Research On The Application Of Nostalgia Therapy In Improving The Self-worth Of Lonely And Elderly Retired Soldiers In Rural Area

With the rapid increase in the aging and elderly population in China,the wave of China’s "silver haired era" is coming and accelerating.In the growing population and an increasingly large army of elderly people,as age increases,the problems and challenges faced by rural elderly veterans in China are becoming increasingly prominent due to unfavorable factors such as decreased self function and mobility,irrational self cognition,and lack of effective emotional support,leading to the inability of this group to meet their spiritual needs and a decrease in their sense of self-worth,Seriously affecting the physical and psychological health of rural elderly veterans,further leading to a decline in their quality of life in their later years,which is not conducive to achieving their active aging.Based on the current situation,relying on professional social work to intervene in the improvement of rural elderly veterans has important research value.In order to understand the current situation of self-worth of orphaned veterans in rural areas,this study conducted field observation visits to orphaned veterans in rural area G.It was found that most of the orphaned veterans in rural area G have a low sense of self-worth,which needs to be improved.Therefore,based on a review of the literature on related fields,a casework approach is proposed to help rural orphaned veterans enhance their rational self-perceptions,improve their sense of self-worth,and achieve effective integration in their later life.First,the literature research method,interview method and scale method were used to gain an in-depth understanding of the current situation and needs of orphaned veterans’ sense of self,and after measurement and analysis,it was found that there were obvious deficiencies in family relationships,sociability,life attitudes and social relationships,and interventions were made in each of these four dimensions.Secondly,the theory of remembrance therapy was used as a guide for the practical application of the case work service work.By helping the orphaned veterans to relive the positive events of the past while eliminating the negative perceptions brought about by the negative events,the self-perception was enhanced,and the unique value of the veterans was explored through a new understanding of their own value in the course of their own lives.Finally,a comprehensive evaluation of the case service milestones was conducted,and the service effects were analyzed using comparative pre-and post-test data to finally obtain the research role of remembrance therapy in the sense of self-worth of rural orphaned veterans.The research results show that the use of memorial therapy in social work based on the physical and mental development characteristics of the elderly can effectively promote the improvement of the sense of self-worth of the rural elderly veterans,and the application of the guidance of social work theory can improve the service effect of memorial therapy,help the rural elderly veterans achieve self-development,selfintegration,and help to realize their sense of self-worth.
