| The evaluation of university academia is a measure of the academic value of research results,an evaluation of its social benefits,and a window for examining its contribution to the human knowledge system.Under the background of China’s promotion of higher education from scale growth to quality improvement,there are still problems in the actual operation of university academic evaluation that need to be solved urgently.Inspired by the Frankfurt School,this study uses Marcuse’s critical theory of technical rationality to deconstruct and analyze the actual operation of academic evaluation in Chinese universities,so as to examine the embodiment and influence of technical rationality in the process of university academic evaluation.Combined with text and phenomenon analysis,it is found that the technical rationality of university academic evaluation is embodied in academic evaluation based on departmental administration,the technical system of maximizing efficiency and the instrumentalized academic concept,which has caused the negative effects of university academic evaluation such as the alienation of university academic action and the "bubble" of academic achievements,the decline of the essential spirit of university academia,and the domination and obedience of academic subjects,that is,technical rationality "fails" in the university academic evaluation mechanism.On this basis,through the content and analysis of the critical theory of technical rationality,the inductive-deductive method is used to expound the reasons for the failure of technical rationality from three macro to micro perspectives,such as the regulation of policy orientation and institutional reform,the alienation of organizational practice,and the materialization and action alienation of scholars themselves.In the face of the negative role of technical rationality in university academic evaluation,based on the understanding of transcendence and the interpretation of the true value of university academic evaluation,combined with phenomenon and theoretical analysis,the core essence of university academic evaluation lies in returning to the essential value of academia,and its possible approach lies in: it is necessary to take academic quality as the fundamental orientation of the evaluation policy system,and control quality throughout academic research;Improve the management environment of university academic evaluation to adapt to the nature and research law of academic research;Scholars also need to change their academic action thinking and build and return to the academic state of "slow scientific research".Therefore,in the process of displaying and publicizing technical rationality in university academic evaluation,we will transcend the shackles of technical rationality and adhere to the true value of academia and academic evaluation. |
