| Violent aggression is a common school problem,and whether individual peer relationships are well developed has a direct impact on middle school students’ aggressive behaviors.In order to explore how to reduce the occurrence of aggression,this study will take the perspective of middle school students’ peer relationships and forgiveness,and specifically study the relationship between peer relationships,forgiveness,reactive and proactive aggression among rural middle school students,as well as the mechanism of forgiveness’ s do-mediating role in the influence of peer relationships on reactive and proactive aggression,with the aim of enriching the understanding of reactive and proactive aggression among rural middle school students and its influence mechanism,and to behavior prevention and intervention.This study used the Peer Relationship Scale,the Forgiveness Scale,and the ReactiveActive Aggression Scale to conduct a questionnaire survey on students in rural areas of Qinzhou City,and 1067 valid data were recovered,which showed that.(1)Rural junior high school students had higher levels of reactive aggression than proactive aggression.Significant grade differences existed for reactive aggression;significant differences existed for proactive aggression in terms of students’ gender,only child,and grade level.There were significant differences in peer acceptance by gender and frequency of contact with father/mother;there were significant differences in interaction fear by gender,family type,and frequency of contact with mother.(2)Peer acceptance positively predicted forgiveness of self,forgiveness of others,and forgiveness,respectively;interaction fear negatively predicted forgiveness of self and forgiveness,respectively,and there was no significant correlation between interaction fear and forgiveness of others.(3)Peer acceptance negatively predicted reactive aggression and proactive aggression,respectively;interaction fear positively predicted reactive aggression,and there was no significant correlation between interaction fear and proactive aggression.(4)Forgiveness of self and forgiveness negatively predicted reactive aggression and proactive aggression,respectively;forgiveness of others did not significantly correlate with the two types of aggression.(5)Forgiveness of self partially mediated the effect of peer acceptance,fear of interaction and reactive aggression,respectively,and forgiveness of self partially mediated the effect of peer acceptance and proactive aggression,respectively,with31.34%,25.21%,and 22.97% of the mediated effect amount.Conclusion: Peer acceptance and fear of interaction have direct effects on reactive and proactive aggression,respectively,and partly through the mediating effect of forgiveness and forgiving oneself.Educational suggestions: students should know how to release bad emotions,follow their inner thoughts,and accept their imperfect selves in order to forgive others;parents should set role models and give their children guidance on correct interpersonal relationships;schools should strengthen forgiveness and anti-aggression education to enhance students’ tolerance rate and thus reduce the probability of aggressive behaviors. |
