General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized in his report on the 20th National Congress that "education is a major plan for the country and for the Party.What to train,how to train and for whom to train are the fundamental issues of education.We should comprehensively implement the Party’s education policy,carry out the fundamental task of establishing moral education,and cultivate socialist builders and successors who are well-rounded in moral,intellectual,physical and aesthetic development." Deepening the comprehensive reform in the field of education is the fundamental way to realise this great ideal.Waist and flag rugby is one of the sports that embodies the ideology and culture of sport,has a good exercise value for junior high school students and has a positive impact on growth and development,and is a sport that combines the advantages of various ball sports.Developing the teaching of waist and flag rugby at junior high school level is conducive to enhancing students’ physical fitness and mental health,and helping them to develop a sense of lifelong sport.This study takes the application of the sports education model in the teaching of junior high school waist flag rugby as the research object,and compares the teaching effects of the sports education model and the traditional teaching model in teaching junior high school students waist flag rugby respectively as the research purpose,using the research methods of literature,expert interview,experimental method and mathematical statistics,using two physical education teaching classes in the junior high school of Huangqiao Middle School in Xiangcheng District,Suzhou as the research object.A 12-week,three-times-a-week teaching experiment was conducted,in which 40 students in the experimental class were taught in the movement education mode and 40 students in the control class were taught in the traditional physical education mode.Before the experiment,we fully understood the current situation of domestic and international research and the theoretical system of the sport education model,and designed and experimented with the experimental content,experimental subjects,implementation process,teaching evaluation and testing indexes according to the suggestions made by the expert teachers,and finally analysed and proved the teaching effect of the sport education model in teaching junior high school students waist flag rugby according to the data obtained from the experiment.The results of the experiment are as follows:(1)Both physical education modes have improved the physical quality of junior high school students.The speed quality of the students in the experimental class was significantly better than that in the control class.There was a highly significant difference in the performance of the students in the experimental class compared to the control class in the 40-yard sprint(P<0.01);there was no significant change in the 20-yard fold run,the one-minute rope skipping and the standing long jump(P>0.05),but the performance of the students in the experimental class was slightly better than that of the students in the control class.(2)Both teaching modes could promote the development of junior high school students’ waist and flag rugby skills,but from a certain perspective,the sports education mode was more effective in improving junior high school students’ waist and flag rugby skills compared to the traditional teaching mode.There was a significant difference(p<0.05)between the experimental and control classes in terms of passing and catching situations and single row around the mark in carrying the ball,with the experimental group of students improving their technical performance in waist and flag rugby to a better extent than the control group.(3)The sports education model led to students showing more positive attitudes towards waist and flag rugby lessons.The study showed that the experimental class showed a more significant improvement in attitude towards learning PE than the control class.(4)The movement education model was effective in strengthening students’affective performance and cooperative spirit,with significant differences between the experimental and control classes in affective performance and cooperative spirit at the end of the experiment.(5)Students in the experimental group gained a great deal of movement experience during the teaching of waist and flag rugby,and at the end of the experiment,students in the experimental group generally reported that the movement education model made people more willing to participate in physical activities and more inclined to demonstrate themselves in the teaching process.(6)The design and implementation of the teaching of the junior high school waist and flag rugby programme using the movement education model is in line with the trend of today’s development and adapts to the new physical education standards.On the premise of considering the physical education needs of junior high school students,the teaching model is practical and feasible for the teaching of junior high school waist and flag rugby and has achieved better results and is suitable for popularisation in junior high school physical education classrooms after practical testing.The sports education model helps develop students’ tactical awareness and decisive ability so that they can achieve better results in competitions.
