The Opinions on Comprehensive Improvement of School Physical Education Work in the New Era issued by the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council point out that it is necessary to continuously promote innovation in school physical education according to the current social development trend,enhance students’ comprehensive quality,help students enjoy the joy of sports activities,enhance their physique,improve their personality,and hone their willpower,laying a solid foundation for achieving comprehensive development in morality,intelligence,physical fitness,beauty,and labor.The sports education model was proposed by Professor Xidentop,which emphasizes the cultivation of students as participants with athletic ability,athletic literacy,and athletic passion.This is similar to the teaching philosophy upheld in the new era.Therefore,the sports education model is introduced into football general courses to explore the role of the "sports education model" in students’ football specialized technical level,sports participation motivation,and social adaptability,Explore and improve China’s physical education teaching model by leveraging strengths and avoiding weaknesses.Through the use of experimental methods,questionnaires,literature,expert interviews,mathematical statistics,the two teaching models were compared and analyzed.The results showed that both teaching modes have their own advantages in improving students’ football specific skills,but the traditional physical education teaching mode has a greater degree of improvement.In terms of improving students’ motivation for sports participation and social adaptability,the sports education mode has more advantages than the traditional physical education teaching mode.The conclusion is as follows:(1)Both the sports education mode and the traditional sports teaching mode have significantly improved students’ football specific skills.There is no significant difference between the two in the ball throwing technique of football.The traditional sports teaching mode is superior to the sports education mode in the learning of long distance kicking techniques,and the sports education mode is superior to the traditional sports teaching mode in the learning of students’ dribbling and shooting skills,It can be concluded that each of the two educational models has its own advantages in improving students’ football skills.(2)Compared with the traditional physical education teaching model,the sports education model has significant differences in the P values of the three dimensions in sports participation motivation,and the total score is higher than the traditional teaching model.Therefore,the "sports education model" has greater advantages in improving student movement ’sports participation motivation.(3)In terms of social adaptability,both the sports education model and the traditional physical education teaching model are beneficial for students’ development,and the promotion effect of the sports education model is more significant,specifically manifested in significant differences in the P values of the four dimensions of social adaptability.The "sports education model" is more beneficial for improving students’ social adaptability.(4)The sports education model has achieved good teaching results in the teaching process of football as a general course for physical education majors,and has its unique advantages,which are worth learning from and promoting.
