With the increasing abundance of recreational physical activities among residents,the contradiction between the demand for recreational physical activities and the supportive space environment needs to be resolved urgently.As an important urban built environment,urban public space is an important place for urban residents to carry out daily physical activities.The planning and construction of public space plays an important role in solving the contradiction of space demand for leisure physical activities.This paper summarizes the general situation of urban public space construction in Shanghai and the general situation of residents’ fitness space,and takes Yangpu Riverside Greenway as an example.The activity situation and the use of urban public space are sorted out,to explore the environmental elements of urban public space that affect residents’ leisure physical activities,and to provide reference for the construction of urban public space.This study uses literature,questionnaire,interview,and mathematical statistics to investigate the differences in residents’ participation in recreational physical activities of different genders,age groups,and educational backgrounds,and residents’ perceptions of satisfaction with the built environment of Yangpu Riverside Greenway.score,the relationship between perception of built environment and recreational physical activity and the main factors influencing it.The results of this study show that:(1)Urban fitness trails have become the main type of urban public space that can be reached within 15 minutes on foot.The urban fitness trail is an important part of the15-minute sports life circle,which plays an important role in increasing the leisure physical activities of residents and forming a physical activity-enhancing environment.(2)Physical distance and environmental perception have become important factors for residents to choose space for leisure activities.The public space close to the residence and the open space with rich and beautiful natural environment are favored by the citizens.(3)The spatial design,supporting facilities,environmental safety,aesthetics,accessibility,sports facilities and atmosphere of the built environment of urban public spaces can promote low-intensity physical activities of residents.Improving the aesthetics of the space and enhancing the accessibility of the space help to increase the frequency and time of residents’ low-intensity physical activity.(4)"Accessibility" is an important factor affecting residents’ moderate and high-intensity physical activity.Accessibility refers to the degree of difficulty for urban residents to reach the urban public space,which is usually measured by the distance,transportation mode,and time spent by residents from the starting point to the destination.Accessibility in this article includes "accessibility from residence to Yangpu Riverside Greenway","accessibility from Yangpu Riverside Greenway to commercial service places",and "accessibility from Yangpu Riverside Greenway to nearby transportation stations".In one aspect,the higher the accessibility score of urban public space,the higher the level of high-intensity leisure physical activity.Therefore,shortening the distance between urban public space and residential areas,improving the convenience of transportation around urban public space,enhancing the Accessibility of urban public spaces to promote moderate to high-intensity physical activity by residents.And put forward the following suggestions for the construction of urban public space:(1)Expand the function of urban public space and improve the service level of urban public space.(2)Reasonable planning and optimized configuration to achieve efficient accessibility of urban public space.(3)Enhance the richness of sports facilities to meet diverse leisure and fitness needs.(4)Give full play to the geographical advantages and develop diversified leisure and fitness projects in combination with the characteristics of waterfront space. |
