With the successful hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games and the release of Document No.46,China’s sports event industry is booming. In recent years, more and more cities are competing to hold various sports events to boost urban development. However,at the same time,as one of the stakeholders of sports events, local residents play an important role in the holding of sports events.Event organizers and functional departments should be aware of the importance of this group, and more consideration of residents’ views on sports events will help to ensure the successful holding of sports events.Based on the above background, this study takes the Suzhou division of the Chinese Super League held in Suzhou under the background of the epidemic situation as a case, from the perspective of residents, analyzes the relationship between residents’ perception, attitude and willingness to support sports events through literature, questionnaire and mathematical statistics, and discusses the formation mechanism of residents’ willingness to support sports events,in order to enrich the application of relevant theories,Provide reference for other cities to hold sports events.Results:(1)on the whole,Suzhou residents have a positive perception of the impact of the CSL.The overall average ranking of the three positive impact dimensions is economic positive impact(M = 4.27),social positive impact(M = 4.23)and environmental positive impact(M = 3.80);The overall average ranking of the three negative impact dimensions is social negative impact(M = 3.97),environmental negative impact(M = 3.75)and economic negative impact(M = 3.69).Suzhou residents have a positive attitude towards hosting the China Super League(M = 4.24).Suzhou residents have a strong willingness to support the holding of the Chinese Super League(M = 4.16).(2)The hypothesis that there is a significant correlation between residents’ perception of the impact of sports events and residents’ attitude is partially supported.Residents’ perception of the social positive impact, economic positive impact, social negative impact and environmental negative impact of sports events can significantly affect residents’ attitude;Residents’ perception of the negative economic impact and positive environmental impact of sports events can not significantly affect residents’ attitude.(3)The hypothesis that there is a significant positive correlation between residents’ attitude towards sports events and their willingness to support is supported.(4)Residents’ perception of the impact of sports events can significantly affect their willingness to support.Residents’ perception of the social positive impact, economic positive impact, social negative impact and environmental negative impact of sports events can significantly affect their willingness to support through the complete intermediary effect of residents’ attitude;Residents’ perception of the negative economic impact and positive environmental impact of sports events directly and significantly affects residents’ willingness to support, and the intermediary effect of residents’ attitude is not significant. The main conclusions of this study:(1)residents’ perception of the impact of sports events can be divided into six dimensions: social positive impact, social negative impact, economic positive impact, economic negative impact, environmental positive impact and environmental negative impact.(2)The relationship model of residents’ perception, attitude and willingness to support the impact of sports events based on social exchange theory and rational behavior theory fits well with the data obtained and is supported by empirical analysis, which shows that the measurement scale used in this study can be suitable for domestic research situations.(3)There is a significant correlation between residents’ perception of the impact of sports events and residents’ attitude, which is partially supported;Residents’ attitude can significantly and positively affect residents’ willingness to support; The hypothesis that residents’ attitude plays an intermediary role between residents’ perception of the impact of sports events and their willingness to support is partially supported.(4)Through empirical research, this paper distinguishes the two concepts of "attitude" and "will",proves that they do exist in their own independent forms, which is consistent with the rational behavior theory, and verifies that the rational behavior theory can well explain this group of relations.Based on the research conclusions, the following targeted suggestions are put forward: first, establish and improve the management system and make scientific decision-making.Second,build a communication platform to improve service quality.Third, strengthen publicity to enhance residents’ sense of identity, participation and acquisition.
