In "The Analects" of Confucius,the word "gentleman" was infused with rich moral connotations and values.Thus,he created a personality image of Confucian "gentleman" with transcendent virtue for people.With the establishment of Confucianism in the mainstream of traditional Chinese culture,the personality of "gentleman" has become the ideal personality paradigm of traditional Chinese culture.The personality of "gentleman" provided value guidance and follow for the ancients to cultivate their body and mind,participate in social life and govern the country.Xi Jinping often quotes quotes from Confucian writings about the "gentleman" to urge young college students to form sound personalities and correct values.Based on the prominent problems in the values of college students,this paper tries to find the source of the values construction of college students from the connotation of Confucian "gentleman" personality,so as to make the value education of college students have more profound traditional culture support,and realize the inheritance and reconstruction of Confucian "gentleman" personality gene.This paper is mainly divided into the following five parts:The first part is the introduction.It introduces the aim and meaning of the research and the research situation of the Confucian gentleman’s personality and the values of college students by experts and scholars at home and abroad.To clarify the two concepts of personality,Confucian gentleman personality,socialist core values and college students’ values,point out the dialectical unity of Confucian gentleman personality and college students’ values,and the methods and ideas of the topic research.The second part expounds the significance of Confucian gentleman personality cultivating college students’ value education from three aspects.From the personal dimension,it is beneficial to cultivate new people of the times;from the social dimension,it is beneficial to enrich the traditional culture of college students’ value education;from the national dimension,it is beneficial to shape the national standard of Chinese gentleman with Chinese characteristics.The third part expounds the basic situation of college students’ values.Comprehensive consideration about patriotism,dedication,integrity,righteousness,life value orientation in five important values of college students,selected the five aspects to elaborate the values of the current college students’ basic situation.Based on the research data of other scholars on college students’ values,this paper analyzes the positive and negative aspects of these five values.The fourth part analyzes the connotation orientation of the Confucian gentleman’s personality in cultivating the values of college students in the new era.Dedicated to solving the third part of college students in five outstanding problems that exist in the values,combined with the Confucian gentleman in these values have good personality traits to enrich the values of contemporary college students.In addition,it reconstructs the excellent genes of Confucian gentleman’s personality based on the characteristics of college students’ values in the new era.The fifth part probes into the realistic path of Confucian gentleman’s personality cultivating college students’ values.The Confucian gentleman personality provides the basis of traditional culture education for the value education of college students,and the influence of culture on people needs various carriers to realize the function of education and humanization.This paper gives full play to the trinity of family,school and society,so that the Confucian gentleman personality can comprehensively cultivate the values of college students in the new era.
