In recent years, the acceleration of globalization has put forward new requirements for the internationalization of higher education, and colleges and universities pay more and more attention to cultivating the global competence of undergraduates. The development of local internationalization promotes the transformation of global competence cultivation,Colleges and universities are committed to introducing high-quality foreign resources, optimizing curriculum resources, and increasing the enrollment of overseas students. To carry out a variety of international academic lectures and other activities to increase students’ global participation, however,in the face of the new situation, new tasks and new requirements. To what extent the experience gained by students’ global participation has an impact on the improvement of their global competence is a realistic question worthy of consideration and attention.Under this background, this study conducts a questionnaire survey on 312 undergraduates who have experienced globalization in S University by snowball sampling,to understand their globalization participation, and to evaluate their global competence and the level of each dimension. Thus, the impact of the global experience on the global competence of undergraduate students is explored. In addition, this study interviewed 8 undergraduates who participated in the questionnaire, which provided more strong support for the quantitative data obtained. At the same time,it also finds many problems in the experience of globalization from the perspective of students, including single access to information, traditional teaching model, lacking of foreign language application ability, lacking of activity forms and low enthusiasm of students. The following conclusions are drawn from the hypotheses and results of survey :First, undergraduates’ background factors have a certain impact on the development of their global competence;Second,on the basis of controlling students’ background variables, globalization academic and communication experience have a significant positive impact on the overall level and three dimensions of undergraduates’ global competence. This study aims at improving the global competence of undergraduates in the process of globalization, and puts forward some measures and suggestions for the problems encountered in the experience of globalization: First,It is necessary to explore the local international training mode and broaden the publicity channels of projects;Second,It should be that set up an international teaching team and innovate the classroom teaching mode;Third,It should be that deepen the curriculum reform and promote the infiltration of disciplines;Fourth,It is necessary to create an international atmosphere of campus and arouse students’ enthusiasm for participation;Fifth,It should be that break the barriers of interaction between Chinese and foreign students and promote cross-cultural exchanges. Finally, this study makes an overall reflection, the main deficiency of the study is that the lack of self-designed questionnaire suitable for the sample universities,In addition, the type of selected institutions is single, and there is no multi-group analysis that give consideration to different types of student groups. In the future, the research in the field of global competence still needs to be further explored. |
