With the rapid transformation of China’s economical society,it has become common for laborers to go out and find work,The frequent absence of core family members leads to the instability of rural family structure and the traditional rural family pattern is gradually changing. The absence of parents affects the proper functioning of family education, the lack of emotional care for children, and challenges to their healthy development. The author uses the professional approach of social work to conduct a study on the education of parents in rural left-behind families. The introduction mainly covers the background and significance of the study,a review of domestic and international literature;Chapter one to chapter four is the main content of this study.First of all it introduces the definition of relevant concepts and theoretical basis. What’s more it analyzes the status quo and reasons for conducting parenting education for left-behind families in the practice areas, then describes the process of conducting and implementing parenting education groups, and finally summarizes and reflects and puts forward corresponding suggestions.Based on the strengths perspective and supported by family communication theory and empowerment theory, this study relies on the "Protecting Children’s Growth" project to study some left-behind parents in W village,S city.Through field investigation,it was found that the problems in parenting education of left-behind families in W Village include:1.Parental roles are absent;2.Different cognitive levels of parental education;3.Diverse sources of parental stress;4.Scattered parental education resources. The main reasons for the development dilemma of parenting education are the weak family income, the limited level of parents, the lack of educational ability, the poor communication within the family, and the low professional degree of the grassroots child protection work team. The study found that the intervention of social work in parenting education for left-behind families in rural areas has a remarkable effect, improving the parents’ educational concept, learning the knowledge and skills of raising children, and enhancing the ability to solve the problems facing parenting, thus strengthening the parent-child relationships. Finally, suggestions for the development of parental education for rural left-behind families are put forward from four aspects:employment security, talent team construction, family supervision and guidance, and professional methods of social work.
