Research background: With the in-depth development of science and technology, people’s lifestyles have changed, modern civilization diseases have emerged, and at the same time, people’s health has been increasingly eroded, and advocating and practicing a healthy lifestyle has become a new trend, and sports have become a key link. From the perspective of social ecology, the sports participation behavior of junior high school students is affected by many levels such as individuals, interpersonalities, communities, organizations, and policies,so it is particularly important and urgent to place the influencing factors of junior high school students’ off-campus sports participation behavior in the context of social ecology for multi-level examination.Research Objectives: Based on the theory of social ecology, taking the influencing factors of off-campus sports participation behavior of junior high school students in Chengdu as the research object, this study proposes theoretical models and research hypotheses through research methods such as literature method, questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics method and structural equation model analysis method, and takes the four subscales of physical activity scale scale,self-efficacy,family support/peer support and community environment as measurement tools, through probability stratification and simple random methods.A total of 900 junior high school students from 6 junior high schools in Chengdu were selected to investigate the actual situation of junior high school students’ extracurricular sports participation in Chengdu, and the effective data were analyzed by using the structural equation model, and the multiple factors affecting the off-campus sports participation behavior of junior high school students and the influence path relationship of various levels were discussed from the individual, interpersonal and community levels,in order to improve the amount of extracurricular sports activities of junior high school students, achieve the long-term goal of youth physical exercise, and then put forward corresponding development countermeasures.Research results:(1)The average amount of extracurricular sports activities of junior high school students was 29.61,and there were differences in gender, only child, school, grade, residence, parents’ occupation and parents’ education level.(2)The mean values of self-efficacy,family support, peer support and community environment were 3.65,3.84,3.70 and 4.03,respectively.There are differences in gender, the situation of the only child, the school attended, the grade of the school attended, the situation of living in school, the occupation of the parents and the educational level of the parents.(3)In SEM,the normalization coefficients of the family support pathway <---extramural sports participation behavior were-0.142,C.R.value was-2.944,and P value was 0.003,which was not assumed.(4)The direct effects of community environment on peer support, family support,self-efficacy,and extracurricular sports participation were 0.453,0.354,0.893,and 0.104,respectively,which were hypothesized to be true; The direct effects of peer support on self-efficacy and out-of-school sports participation were 0.452 and 0.185,respectively,which were hypothesised. The hypothesis holds true that the direct effect of family support on self-efficacy is 0.307,and that the direct effect of self-efficacy on out-of-school sports participation behavior is 0.357.(5)The indirect effects of community environment on self-efficacy and out-of-school sports participation were 0.314 and 0.464,respectively,the indirect effects of peer support on out-of-school sports participation were 0.161,and the indirect effects of family support on out-of-school sports participation were 0.110.(6)The total effects of community environment on peer support, family support,self-efficacy and extracurricular sports participation were 0.453,0.354,1.206 and 0.568,respectively,the total effects of peer support on self-efficacy and extracurricular sports participation were 0.452 and 0.346,the total effects of family support on self-efficacy and extracurricular sports participation were 0.307 and-0.023,and the total effect of self-efficacy on out-of-school sports participation was 0.357.Conclusions:(1)The amount of extracurricular sports activities of junior high school students is generally moderate.(2)Demographic variables had a certain impact on self-efficacy,peer support, family support, community environment, and the amount of extracurricular physical activity of junior high school students.(3)Junior high school students’ extracurricular sports participation behavior is jointly affected by multiple factors such as psychological factors at the individual level, family support and peer support in social support at the interpersonal level, and community environment at the community level, and is the result of multi-level,multi-dimensional and multi-factor joint action, and these levels, dimensions and factors will interact and jointly influence, and will produce direct effects, indirect effects and total effects with different degrees of influence.(4)The community-level community environment, interpersonal peer support and individual-level self-efficacy have a direct effect on promoting junior high school students’ out-of-school sports participation behavior;Family support and peer support at the interpersonal level have a direct effect on self-efficacy,and indirectly affect out-of-school sports participation through self-efficacy.The community-level community environment indirectly influences the out-of-school sports participation behavior of junior high school students through variables such as self-efficacy,peer support, and family support.(5)"Social Ecology Theory" can effectively explain the internal mechanism of the generation of junior high school students’ out-of-school sports participation behavior.Middle school students’ out-of-school sports participation behavior is determined by self-efficacy,peer support, family support, and community environment interaction.Research recommendations:(1)Based on social ecology, intervene in junior high school students’ off-campus sports participation behavior from multiple levels such as psychological factors, social support, and external environment.(2)Student-oriented,attach importance to cultivating and stimulating the self-efficacy of junior high school students.(3)Set an example for parents, raise awareness of sports, and strengthen sports support.(4)Give full play to the peer effect and improve the initiative and enthusiasm of junior high school students to participate in sports activities.(5)Improve community sports facilities, enhance community safety, and enrich community activities.
