As a gender-focused profession with special work content, nurses are vulnerable to experience sexual harassment from multiple work targets, which seriously affects the professional enthusiasm and service quality of nurses and threatens the healthy development of the nursing profession.Due to the influence of traditional Chinese culture, the public pays relatively low attention to sexual harassment of women.Although several departmental laws have proposed provisions on "sexual harassment" in recent years, there are still some women who have not taken the correct response and solution after experiencing sexual harassment, resulting in more serious harm to their physical and mental health. The physical and mental health of nurses is crucial for maintaining a healthy doctor-patient relationship, and it is also a guarantee for building high-quality doctor-patient relationships in future of China.Ms.F,a respiratory nurse at the hospital B in D city, developed resistance to male patients after experiencing multiple sexual harassment, resulting in a serious decline in the quality of medical services and even affecting normal work and life. After obtaining her consent, the social worker conducted a four month case intervention with Ms.F.After completing the case,we conducted several interviews with Ms.F and her family and unit leaders and colleagues. The social worker successfully used the theory of psychological defense mechanism to analyze the psychological dilemma faced by Ms.F and explored the causes of Ms.F’s psychological dilemma from multiple perspectives, applied the cognitive-behavioral theory to change her misconceptions about the sexual harassment incident and herself, restored her belief of her career, and used the theory of strength perspective to help Ms.F revive her professional enthusiasm and promote her self-actualization.Based on the process assessment, outcome assessment and follow-up services of the case, the casework intervention of Ms.F after sexual harassment has achieved good results.Through the process of case intervention, this paper summarizes the following conclusions:1.Psychological problems of nurses are often accompanied by intense work pressure and are not easily perceived by themselves.Professionally trained social workers can use interviews and other methods to make subjective judgments about whether the service object needs assistance.2.It is important to make timely and accurate judgments about the degree of psychological disorders of nurse, and the level of mental health of nurse can be assessed with the help of psychological assessment scales.3.The practical intervention for nurse should not only rely on social work theory, but also conduct field research on the working environment and life relationship of nurse. The psychological trauma suffered by nurse after experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace is often closely related to their working environment,so the service objectives and plans for nurse should be developed around their work.Based on this work, this paper puts forward relevant suggestions for the future prevention and relief mechanism of sexual harassment in the workplace for nurse in China, from a total of four perspectives: nurses, hospital system establishment, legal system improvement and social environment improvement,in order to create a good working environment for female nurse and jointly promote the high-level development of China’s health care industry.
