Emotional ability is an important aspect of children ’s mental health, which affects their cognitive, personality and social development. This study explores the influence of parents ’ expectations and parent-child relationship on the development of children ’s emotional ability and the specific relationship, and puts forward suggestions for parents to establish a scientific expectation view and strengthen the construction of parent-child relationship to promote the development of children ’s emotional ability. In this study,560 parents of young children were selected as the research objects to conduct questionnaire survey and scale survey by using ’ Parent Expectation Questionnaire ’,’ Parent-Child Relationship Scale ’ and ’ Children ’s Emotional Ability Development Scale ’,supplemented by interviews to collect data. The conclusions are as follows :(1)Parents ’ expectations are generally at an upper level. There is no significant difference in children ’s gender and age variables, and there is a significant difference in whether children are only children. There is no significant difference in the variables of parental role, occupation and family residence. There are significant differences in the variables of parental education and family average monthly income.(2)The parent-child relationship is generally at a middle level, and there is no significant difference in the gender and age variables of children, and there is a significant difference in whether children are the only child. There are significant differences in the variables of parental role, education, occupation, family residence and family average monthly income.(3)Children ’s emotional ability is generally in the upper middle level, and there are significant differences in children ’s gender and age variables, but there is no significant difference in whether children are only children. There are significant differences in parental education, occupation, family residence, and family average monthly income variables.(4)There are different degrees of correlation among parental expectations,parent-child relationship and children ’s emotional competence. On the whole, except for the expectation of physical and mental quality, which positively predicts parent-child conflict, parental expectation significantly positively predicts parent-child relationship;parental expectations significantly positively predict children ’s emotional ability;parent-child relationship significantly positively predicts children ’s emotional ability.(5)Parent-child relationship plays a complete mediating role between parental expectation and children ’s emotional ability.Based on the research conclusions, suggestions are put forward : adhere to the child-centered concept and establish a scientific expectation concept;respect individual differences and strengthen the construction of parent-child relationship;pay attention to the details of life and cultivate children ’s emotional ability;strengthen parent-teacher communication and improve the efficiency of home cooperation.
