| The emergence of large units as a teaching model in line with the ’learning task clusters’ has shown the way to the implementation of core language literacy.Modern prose is a large part of the language in lower secondary school, and it can enhance students’ aesthetic appreciation and logical reasoning skills. To upgrade the teaching of modern prose, teachers should develop the awareness of applying the large-unit teaching model to modern prose teaching, which still uses the traditional single-part teaching model, causing students’ thinking to solidify and their interest in learning to decrease. There are three sections of the paper, namely, introduction, text and conclusion. The thesis consists of three sections, namely the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The introduction section explains the origin of the research on teaching large units of modern prose, the definition of the concept, the significance of the research,a review of the current state of the research and the content and methodology of the research, while the body is divided into five main sections for the research. The first part provides an overview of modern prose large-unit teaching in junior secondary languages, including the theoretical basis of large-unit teaching, its characteristics and the value of implementing large-unit teaching in modern prose. The second part is an analysis of the selection of modern prose in the Unified Edition of the junior secondary language. The selection is analysed in terms of the overall number and distribution of modern prose in the junior secondary language textbooks, the types of selected texts and the themes of the selected texts, and a summary of the characteristics of the selection of modern prose in the junior secondary language. The third part is a preliminary investigation and attribution analysis of the teaching of large units of modern prose in middle school language, with in-depth analysis of teachers’ and students’ questionnaires in the form of charts and graphs respectively. The problems found in the currently implemented large units of modern prose teaching include an unreasonable selection of unit teaching content, the ambiguous performance of unit teaching objectives, modeling of unit teaching situations and activities, and the tendency of unit teaching assessment to be process-oriented,followed by further analysis and problem attribution. The fourth part is about the implementation strategies for teaching modern prose in junior secondary languages in the context of large-unit teaching.Four implementation strategies are proposed, namely, refining the theme of large-unit teaching and integrating the content of large-unit teaching;shaping the objectives of large-unit teaching from a multi-dimensional perspective;creating large-unit teaching situations and improving the process of large-unit teaching;and comprehensively implementing teaching assessment to actively implement core language literacy. The fifth part is a study on the teaching design of a large unit of modern prose using Unit 4 of the first book of Grade 8 of the Unified Edition of the junior high school language, and reflections on the problems according to the teaching design. |
