| The research innovation efficiency of university teachers refers to the process and ability of teachers,who are the main subjects of innovation,to produce scientific knowledge in the frontier field of discipline development,optimize and integrate the basic elements required for scientific research activities,and finally complete scientific research activities efficiently and achieve breakthrough research results under the influence of internal and external environments after various incentive systems are formulated in universities.Improving university teachers’ innovation effectiveness can promote the quality of university education and teaching,scientific research,and social services,and is also an important part of China’s science and technology innovation development strategy.Despite substantial development in the scientific research output of university teachers as a consequence of national policy and university system,many studies have pointed out that the quality of scientific research outcomes in China still needs to be improved,and high-level results are relatively scarce.Therefore,how to improve the high-level research innovation efficiency of university teachers has become an important research issue.University social capital is based on the trust,network,and norms formed by the organizations of universities internally and externally.As an informal system,it improves the internal efficiency of universities by fostering the cooperative trust and interactive network between university internal elements and external actors,which helps to optimize education and teaching in universities,promote scientific research in universities,and increase the influence and status of universities in the society.Therefore,it is important to study the impact of university social capital on teachers’ research innovation efficiency and its mechanism of action.It also provides a new research perspective and policy tools for increasing the high-level innovation effectiveness of university teachers.Firstly,applying the theory of field dynamics,this paper initially analyzes the factors influencing the research innovation effectiveness of university teachers,including external environmental factors,internal environmental factors,and individual university teachers factors through a literature review and questionnaire survey.Secondly,this paper analyzes the occurrence mechanism of scientific research innovation behavior among university teachers,and infers that social capital inside and outside universities plays a crucial role in it,but it has received less attention from existing research;.Thirdly,this paper separates university social capital into two types: the internal and the external,distinguishes the high-level and general-level research and innovation effectiveness of teachers,and constructs a measurement index system.External social capital indicators for universities include Social interaction and social trust;internal social capital indicators include Teacher engagement and organizational support.Meanwhile,the research hypothesis of the role of internal and external social capital of universities on the influence of different levels of innovation effectiveness of university teachers is proposed to investigate the mechanism of the influence of social capital on teachers’ research and innovation effectiveness at the university level.Finally,using 370 valid questionnaires from university teachers in Guangxi and Shanxi as samples,the latent variables and measures were analyzed for reliability using SPSS24.0,and the research model was tested for goodness-of-fit and path relationship using AMOS24.0.The results of the study shows that the internal and external social capital measurement index system of universities has good credibility.Both internal and external social capital of universities have direct and significant positive effects on teachers’ high-level research innovation effectiveness,with the effect of internal social capital of universities being more significant.Both internal and external social capital of universities have insignificant effects on teachers’ overall level of research innovation effectiveness.And the indirect influence of external social capital through internal social capital on the efficiency of high-level research and innovation is greater than the direct influence of social capital in universities.Based on the findings and conclusions presented above,this study proposes suggestions and realization paths to promote and enhance teachers’ high level of research and innovation effectiveness.While providing a theoretical basis for constructing a high-quality social capital system in China’s universities,it also provides new ideas for universities to improve the management system of teachers’ innovation effectiveness from the perspective of social capital theory. |
