| The social adjustment of young children helps them to cope with the challenges of all areas of social life and is an important indicator of their mental health. The earliest social environment that young children are exposed to during their development is the family, and parents,as the primary caregivers of young children, are even more closely associated with their own behaviour and the development of their social adjustment. Therefore, this study uses the ecosystem theory to investigate the relationship between young children’s social adjustment ability and parents’ head-down behaviour, and to explore the mechanisms through which parents’ head-butting behaviour affects young children’s social adjustment ability,in order to better promote the development of young children’s social adjustment ability. The study used questionnaires and interviews to examine the effects of parental head-butting behaviour on young children’s social adjustment ability and the mediating role of parent-child relationships. The study also examined the effects of parental head-butting behaviour on the social adjustment of young children through in-depth interviews with parents.Findings: 1.The social adjustment skills of children aged 3-6 years old in the region are generally in the middle to upper range, with the best development in social interaction skills and the worst development in homework skills.2.The parents of young children in the region have a moderate to low level of low parental behaviour.Parents of young children do not rely excessively on electronic devices in the presence of their children;parents of young children have some cognitive biases in terms of parent-child companionship;there are no significant differences in parental low parental behaviour in terms of the age and gender of young children and the age and role of parents.3.The overall parent-child relationship in the region is moderate to high, and there is no significant difference in the age and gender of the children and the age and role of the parents.4.There is a significant negative correlation between parental head-down behaviour and parent-child relationship and children’s social adjustment ability;there is a significant positive correlation between parent-child relationship and children’s social adjustment ability.5.Parental head-butting behaviour can directly predict children’s social adjustment ability, and can also indirectly influence children’s social adjustment ability through parent-child relationship, and parent-child relationship plays a mediating role in parental head-down behaviour and children’s social adjustment ability. The study recommends that: Firstly, parents should correct misconceptions and set good role models;Secondly, parents should improve the quality of parent-child interactions and create a family atmosphere free of bowing heads and freedom;Thirdly, parents should pay attention to the development of their children’s social adjustment skills and practise parenting education;Fourthly, parents should seek help from the school to jointly promote their children’s social adjustment skills. |
