Patriotic education for students is an important way to cultivate students’ correct outlook on life.Attaching great importance to the work of patriotic education for secondary school students helps to stimulate patriotic feelings among high school students;helps to cultivate core literacy of the subject;and helps to cast a firm sense of Chinese national community.However,with the profound changes in the world and national conditions and the rapid growth of secondary school students in the new era,patriotism education faces new challenges and new opportunities.Therefore,it is not only very important but also extremely necessary to conduct an in-depth study on patriotism education based on the current situation of teaching Civics in secondary schools in the new era.This paper takes patriotism education in high school "Ideology and Politics" class as the research object,and uses literature research method and questionnaire survey method to analyze and discuss the concepts related to patriotism education in high school,its importance,problems,causes and solution measures.This paper is divided into four main parts.The first chapter briefly introduces the relevant concepts of patriotic education,specifically including the connotation of patriotism and patriotic education;the connotation and significant meaning of patriotic education in the new era,and analyzes the relationship between patriotic education and the high school Civics class.Chapter 2 elaborates the significance of patriotism education in the new era in high school Civics from three dimensions: political,social and life.The study points out that patriotism education for high school students is the proper meaning of Civics curriculum,can help students enhance their identification with the great motherland,is a requirement for guiding students to cultivate and practice socialist core values,and is necessary for students to realize their personal values.On the basis of research on students and teachers,Chapter 3 identifies the problems of patriotism education in high school Civics and Political Science classes,which are manifested in the lack of modernity of teaching contents,the lack of rich teaching methods,the imperfect teaching evaluation and assessment mechanism,and the lack of vitality of students’ learning,and explores the causes of the problems from five aspects: schools,families,teachers,students and other factors.Chapter 4 addresses the problems of patriotism education in high school Civics classes and proposes specific measures to strengthen patriotism education in four aspects: improving teachers’ educational and teaching abilities,enriching teaching methods,tapping high-quality curriculum resources,and improving the teaching evaluation system.
