| The COVID-19 pandemic in the world has brought a huge impact on people’s production and life.In China and some other countries or regions, the government has taken a series of measures to block the spread of the epidemic, such as Epidemic isolation, restricting large-scale gatherings and activities, and reducing traffic frequency. On the one hand, measures such as isolation have effectively suppressed the spread of the epidemic, but on the other hand,we should also note that during the period of containment of the epidemic, due to various reasons such as travel restrictions and logistics interruptions, special patient groups may be affected, such as the inability to access health facilities for routine care and drug management.Based on this, this article, from the perspective of social ecosystem theory, takes elderly people with chronic diseases who have experienced two months of home isolation in Shanghai as the research object.Through field interviews with community L,we have a deep understanding of the health management status of elderly people with chronic diseases during the epidemic isolation period, and conduct qualitative analysis of the collected data,Summarize the health management difficulties faced by the elderly with chronic diseases and their coping strategies during the quarantine period. At the same time, the health management dilemma of the elderly with chronic diseases during home isolation is the result of a comprehensive effect of micro, medium, and macro factors.Based on this, this article proposes corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, and provides reference and basis for social work service practice. This study found that elderly people with chronic diseases during home isolation face multiple dilemmas, which are generally manifested as difficulties and delays in treatment and drug access, the cessation of services such as nursing care, medical consultation, and health follow-up,and changes in health behaviors such as mentality, diet, and exercise.Accordingly, the elderly with chronic diseases have also adopted a series of coping strategies to deal with the difficulties they face during isolation. This study divides them into positive strategies, adaptive strategies, and negative strategies. The elderly with chronic diseases have two roles at the same time, one is the elderly, and the other is the patients with chronic diseases. However, this does not mean that they are completely incompetent and vulnerable groups.During the period of epidemic isolation at home, they also use their own methods to deal with the difficulties of chronic disease management.Regardless of the response method,it is based on their own situation and resources when facing a stressful environment. Therefore, pay attention to the current situation and coping strategies of the elderly with chronic diseases during the epidemic isolation period, and explore the health management of the elderly with chronic diseases in special emergency situations such as epidemic containment,Identifying the characteristics of elderly groups that are more likely to face health management risks and implementing the responsibilities of governments, communities, and individuals is of great significance for China’s epidemic prevention and healthy aging. |
