With the country’s emphasis on school physical education,the proposal of physical education teaching reform has become a new direction,goal,and requirement for school physical education reform.As early as 2007,the State Council Document No.7 "Opinions" pointed out that schools should have sports characteristics and everyone should have sports projects,and focus on developing students’ interest and expertise in sports.Therefore,in recent years,the country has continuously introduced new policies to vigorously develop school characteristic sports.Duyun Third Primary School,as an early school in Guizhou Province to promote the reform of "characteristic sports",has played a exemplary and leading role in the construction of table tennis characteristic schools.This article uses methods such as literature review,interview,field investigation,and logical analysis to investigate and analyze the classroom teaching,extracurricular activities,and guarantee system of the table tennis project carried out in the third primary school of Duyun City.It sorts out the achievements,experiences,inspirations,and existing difficulties in the process of table tennis development,and draws the following research conclusions:1.Duyun No.3 Primary School,based on the actual situation of the school,seized the opportunity to establish cooperation with Duyun Tongle Youth sports club to develop table tennis featured sports.Through extracurricular activities to the classroom,from the classroom to the curriculum,from curriculum to culture,and from culture to education,the school has now developed into a national table tennis characteristic school,and is a typical example of running a table tennis characteristic sports school in primary and secondary schools in Guizhou Province.2.Duyun Third Primary School has established a table tennis school-based curriculum,established table tennis classes,conducted table tennis training,and organized class,grade,and school level table tennis leagues to promote students’ happy learning and growth in table tennis.At the same time,it has also achieved excellent competitive results and nurtured many excellent table tennis athletes.3.The planning,layout and allocation of venue equipment and facilities,regular training of coaches on campus,sound organizational management,high attention from school leaders,and the construction of campus table tennis culture have provided effective guarantees for the orderly development of table tennis characteristic projects in Duyun Third Primary School.4.The characteristic education of table tennis at the Third Primary School in Duyun City has achieved significant results: winning awards and transporting table tennis talents;Popularize and improve simultaneously,accelerate characteristic education;Create campus characteristics and establish Tajian Primary School;Inherit table tennis culture and educate people with the spirit of national football;Promote physical health and cultivate awareness of lifelong exercise.5.The Third Primary School in Duyun City has accumulated valuable experience: the care and support of the government and leaders are the prerequisite;School collaboration and the introduction of social forces are the foundation;Emphasizing both popularization and improvement is the key;A sound management system and scientific training mode are guarantees.6.There is a shortage of teaching staff and training time for the table tennis school team in Duyun Third Primary School.It is urgent to introduce more excellent table tennis coaches,ensure normal teaching and training time,extend weekend and winter/summer training time,improve the sports skills of the school team members,and promote their sustainable development.
