Education is the foundation of a country.How to improve the quality of higher education and cultivate high-quality talents for China in the new era are important research subjects in education at the present stage.Academic achievement is an important index to measure the quality of undergraduate education.Improving undergraduate academic achievement is an necessary requirement of talent training and adaptation to social development.Existing studies have shown that teachers,as the group with the most contact with students in schools,impact students’ positive academic emotions and academic achievement.Still,the mechanism of teacher support’s influence on both has not been thoroughly studied.At the same time,the rapid development of tourism in our country needs to train more competitive and high-quality talents.Because of this,based on the theory of basic psychological needs,this study investigates and explores the mechanism of how teacher support affects the academic achievement of undergraduates majoring in tourism management and tries to verify the mediating relationship between teacher support and academic achievement.Firstly,literature analysis was used to sort out the literature related to the theoretical basis,teacher support,positive academic emotion,and academic achievement.On this basis,a hypothesis was formed,and a research model among the three was constructed.Secondly,a questionnaire survey and a mature scale were used to investigate the academic achievement of undergraduates majoring in tourism management.Finally,SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 were used to analyze the data,and the empirical test of the research model was carried out.The results show that:(1)The perceived teacher support,positive academic emotion,and academic achievement of the undergraduates majoring in tourism management are above average,but there is still room for improvement;(2)Teacher support significantly affects positive academic emotion,and academic achievement,and positive academic emotion significantly affected academic achievement;(3)The positive academic emotion of tourism management undergraduates plays a mediating role between teacher support and academic achievement;(4)Demographic variables have significant differences in teacher support,positive academic emotion,and academic achievement.Based on the empirical research results,strategies and suggestions are proposed from three aspects: strengthening teachers’ support,promoting a positive academic emotional experience,and improving academic achievement.By introducing the psychological concept of positive academic emotion as an intermediate variable,this study deeply discusses the influence path of teacher support on academic achievement,enriching the research on the formation mechanism of academic achievement,which has a specific innovative significance and provides a theoretical reference for improving the academic achievement of tourism management undergraduates through teacher support.
