Cartoons are a unique form of painting,with exaggeration,deformation and symbolism as expressions to express the author’s evaluation of current events and objects,with a strong humorous and satirical artistic style,which is widely loved by people.As a product of a certain historical period,cartoons record the creator’s feedback on historical events,reflect the distinctive characteristics of the times,and contain rich historical information,and their historical value should not be underestimated.In recent years,the new standard requires teachers to develop curriculum resources vigorously,and the huge number of cartoons,as a common teaching resource around,has great potential for development and utilization.This study takes the cartoons of modern Chinese history as the research object,combines the characteristics of cartoons such as intuitive,interesting and commentary,and explains its role in teaching junior high school history to stimulate students’ interest and enhance their enthusiasm for learning,improve their ability and historical literacy,cultivate sentiment and cultivate family sentiment,etc.The use of cartoons to prove history not only enriches classroom content,but also develops curriculum resources and improves teachers’ quality.When applying cartoons,attention should be paid to the principles of collecting cartoons through multiple channels and selecting cartoons.When interpreting cartoons,the steps of determining the theme of cartoons,analyzing the meaning and combining history and theory should be followed to meet the actual needs,to be student-centered,to fully and deeply explore cartoons,to adopt various teaching methods such as group cooperation and role-playing,and to corroborate with various types of historical materials such as documentary historical materials and physical historical materials,and other strategies.With the new version of the junior high school history curriculum standards as a guide,combined with their own teaching practice and classroom observations,they try to apply cartoons in junior high school modern history teaching,taking specific topics as cases,exploring the application of modern history cartoons in classroom introduction,teaching of important and difficult points,and classroom exercises,giving full play to the role of Chinese modern history cartoons,helping students implement historical interpretation,historical evidence and other disciplinary core literacy,and deepening students’ It helps students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of historical events.It also helps to strengthen teachers’ attention to and research on cartoons,which is conducive to enhancing the application of cartoons in the teaching of modern Chinese history in junior high school.
