In recent years, drug abuse has become one of the serious public health problems that need to be addressed worldwide and in China.Long-term drug abuse can have a negative impact on the physical, psychological and social functioning of drug addicts. The CPC Central Committee has always attached great importance to anti-narcotics and drug rehabilitation work, elevating it to a high level that has a bearing on the security of the country, national prosperity and decline, and the well-being of the people. However,at present, there are still problems such as a large base number of drug addicts,a high relapse rate, and difficulty in withdrawal.Alcoholics Anonymous is widely used all over the world and has played a significant role in helping alcoholics to get rid of alcohol addiction, and some studies have pointed out that its core twelve steps are not only applied to alcohol abstinence, but also effective for drug rehabilitation, namely the Anonymous Drug Addicts Mutual Aid Association. Therefore, based on the addictive and harmful characteristics of drugs and alcohol, and according to the DSM-V,alcohol,marijuana,opioids and other drugs are listed as drugs included in substance-related disorders, and the practical tool of the Twelve Steps of the Anonymous Alcohol Rehabilitation Association is applied to the rehabilitation of drug addicts. This study attempts to answer the following three questions.First, whether the Twelve Steps structured group work intervention in drug addiction rehabilitation is effective.Second,if it is effective, what kind of operation mode it is.Third, what needs to be paid attention to when group work involves drug addicts. This study targeted drug addicts who remained awake for more than one year and achieved group goals through 15 online group activities. The group is divided into five main stages: finding similar behavioral traits, finding support, taking stock of one’s strengths and weaknesses, reviewing interpersonal relationships, and maintaining and consolidating what they have learned. As observers, researchers participated in group activities throughout the process, collecting data through participatory observation,semi-structured interviews for qualitative research. The researchers descriptively recorded and analyzed the achievement of goals, group atmosphere and the role of social worker, supplemented by the evaluation scale of group member satisfaction and the visual simulation scale of drug craving, and evaluated the results of the process, and obtained the practical experience obtained in the group process. This study concludes that it is feasible, necessary and effective to carry out group work to intervene in the rehabilitation of drug addicts guided by the Twelve Steps, and significantly improve the drug craving level,self-awareness,concept transformation, spiritual growth and interpersonal communication of drug addicts. But it is also necessary to consider the characteristics of drug addicts in group work, including the gender, preference, behavioral characteristics and inertia of group members.Through this study, the academic value of the twelve steps will be demonstrated in practice, laying the foundation for the application of the twelve steps in addiction control work in the future, and providing theoretical support for the development of drug control social work in China. |
