Narrative Therapy:Research On Propaganda And Prevention Practice Of Anti-drug Social Work

While human society has never stopped moving forward and economies continue to develop,the "white devil" of drugs is roaming every corner of the world and continues to gain momentum.According to the World Drug Report 2022,the manufacture of and trafficking of all types of drugs continues to rise each year,new psychoactive substances are emerging,opium production continues to increase and global opiate seizures are at record levels.Drugs are not only dangerous to individual lives and family relationships,but the problem of drug-related crime is not only dangerous but also extremely complex.The fight against drugs has become a global imperative.The field of social work has a long history of focusing on correction,rehabilitation and care services for drug-involved persons,and drug treatment requires not only post-drug intervention but also drug prevention is a very important and crucial part of it.Based on my practical experience in the S Social Work Agency in Guangdong Province,which has six years of experience in drug promotion and prevention,the author explored effective methods with the agency’s social workers.Through brainstorming with the agency’s social workers and observation of the agency’s antidrug work,and based on an in-depth analysis of a certain case in He,I found that the traditional methods of anti-drug publicity and prevention are: setting up stalls to publicize the types and tools of drugs,posting propaganda slogans and giving lectures,which are used to publicize the dangers of drugs to the public in an authoritative manner.This can reinforce the stereotype of drug users as "sinners" and deepen the discrimination against them in society at large,making it difficult to help them destigmatize.On the other hand,narrative therapy uses language theory to focus on the positive and help drug-involved people explore their potential and reconstruct their stories,helping them maintain their integrity and not return to drugs.It also allows the public to learn about drug resistance and prevention,thus enhancing the effectiveness of anti-drug publicity.After years of effort,China’s anti-drug social work has made significant achievements,and the level and effectiveness of anti-drug social services have improved significantly.However,in the face of the current fast-changing drug situation,anti-drug social work is faced with new challenges such as a single source of funding,serious multi-administration by government departments,a single form of anti-drug publicity,and a shortage and high turnover of anti-drug social work professionals.Therefore,to enhance the effectiveness of anti-drug social work and the capacity of social work agencies to participate in anti-drug governance,it is necessary to: firstly,broaden the sources of funding;secondly,transform the one-way and multi-headed management form of government departments;thirdly,focus on the cultivation of antidrug social workers’ missions and explore new forms of drug prevention publicity;fourthly,expand the pool of anti-drug social work professionals and strengthen the introduction and training of talents;fifthly,improve the salaries of anti-drug social workers and strengthen their job security.
