The new version of the curriculum standards requires teachers to explore large units of teaching and actively develop integrated teaching activities such as thematic and project-based learning.In the primary school language classroom,the main content taught is reading,so it is essential for teachers to experiment with a variety of reading teaching methods to improve the dull atmosphere of the classroom,strengthen the connection between language teaching and life,and develop students’ ability to find and solve problems in concrete life situations.In conclusion,it is important to study the practical significance and necessity of teaching reading in large units of primary school languages.This study uses literature,case studies,interviews and questionnaires to gain a full understanding of the current situation of the design of large unit reading teaching in the upper section of primary school language,and after sorting through the materials,the following problems were identified in the current design of large unit reading teaching in the upper section of primary school language: the creation of a rigid context in large unit reading teaching makes the teaching atmosphere dull;primary school language teachers do not have a more accurate understanding of the design of large unit reading teaching The specific links are not more accurately understood;there are problems with the teachers’ refinement of the broad concepts of large-unit reading teaching.After in-depth analysis,the author concludes that there are the following reasons: First,the teacher’s own professionalism is low,not able to fully grasp the design process of large units of teaching,the teacher lacks educational resourcefulness,unable to arrange the teaching content according to the random generation of the classroom,does not establish a democratic classroom teaching atmosphere,and does not grasp the comprehensiveness of the text within the material.Secondly,teachers are not clear about the design of the objectives of the large unit of reading teaching.In view of the above problems and causes,this study proposes the followingstrategies and suggestions for the design and implementation of large-unit reading teaching in upper primary school: the design of large-unit reading teaching objectives should be tailored to the characteristics of the school section and closely follow the core literacy;according to the characteristics of the teaching materials,the implementation of moral education.The design of the content of large units of reading teaching should be closely related to life and be based on big concepts;based on the design of the situation,the content should be presented in a big task;based on the students’ situation,the content should be set in multiple forms;combined with a variety of genres,the content should be presented in a systematic way.The assessment design for large units of reading teaching should achieve deep assessment in diversity;effective assessment in multiple subjects;and motivational assessment in diversity.In the implementation,we should grasp the overall teaching design to improve the efficiency of reading teaching;pay attention to the relevance of teaching links to ensure the quality of reading teaching;advocate the comprehensiveness of teaching design to broaden the way of teaching reading.
