With the rapid development of higher education and the increasing scale of postgraduate enrollment, the number of master’s degree students in sports has been increasing, and the situation of supply exceeding demand has emerged, and the employment situation has become severe. The report of the 20 th Party Congress proposes to speed up the pace of building a strong sporting nation. As a reserve force for building a strong sports nation, master’s degree students in sports should take up the responsibility of this era. However,at present, the competition for employment of master’s degree students in sports has intensified and the employment pressure has increased. If the employment problem is not solved in time,a large number of sports talents will be lost, resulting in a waste of resources.Only by helping master’s degree students in sports to achieve fuller and higher quality employment can we continue to promote the pace of building a strong sports nation in China.Taking the labour market segmentation theory and limited rational choice theory as the theoretical basis, this study investigates and researches the employment status of master’s degree students in sports in the post-epidemic era through literature analysis, questionnaire survey, interview method and mathematical statistics, and conducts frequency analysis, descriptive analysis and difference analysis on the data with the help of SPSS26.0.The study found that the employment implementation rate of master’s degree students in sports in the post-epidemic era was 60%,with more than half of the graduates working in economically developed cities;80.22% of the students chose the education industry;most of the students earned between RMB5001-8000 per month;the degree of job alignment with their majors was average;and the employment satisfaction was average. In the face of fierce market competition, master’s degree students in sports show single concept of career selection and blindly follow the crowd in employment;negative employment cognition and low self-efficacy;insufficient employability and lack of employment guidance. At the same time, the study shows that at the level of physiological characteristics, there are significant differences in the employment implementation of master’s degree students in sports by gender and age;at the level of family characteristics, there is no difference in the employment implementation rate by place of origin, and there is a significant difference in the employment implementation rate by family economic status and whether the family is the only child;at the level of organizational characteristics, there are significant differences in the employment implementation rate by undergraduate major, graduate school and graduate major;and at the level of ability, there is a significant difference in the employment implementation rate by undergraduate major, graduate school and graduate major. In terms of ability characteristics, there is no difference in the job placement rate due to political appearance, but there is a significant difference in the job placement rate due to professional ranking, sports level,English level and student leader experience.Studies have shown that the causes of employment problems of master’s degree students in sports are not only related to themselves, but also inextricably linked to their families and schools. In order to promote fuller and higher quality employment of sports master students in the post-epidemic era, students themselves should face rationally and explore actively;choose in multiple directions to avoid blindness;be positive and optimistic to maintain self-confidence;improve their abilities and develop comprehensively. At the family level, students should pay attention to employment and provide proper guidance, provide support and respect, and promote employment through joint efforts between home and school. At the organisational level, the curriculum should be reconstructed to emphasise practice;employment education should involve all staff;and school-enterprise cooperation should be mutually beneficial.
