With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the integration of urban and rural areas is also gradually accelerated, more and more labor force from rural areas into the city to earn a living, which forms new citizen groups in the city.At the same time, more and more children of new citizens also move to the city to study and live with their parents. After these children of new citizens enter a strange environment, they will have a series of problems in interpersonal communication due to the influence of themselves, their families and the community, which makes them difficult to integrate in a short time.Interpersonal skill is an important ability to adapt to the society. The problems in interpersonal communication of the children of new citizens will not only affect their personal development, but also have a negative impact on the family and the society. Therefore,it is of great significance to study how to improve the interpersonal skills of the children of new citizens and help them cope with and integrate into the new environment correctly. In this paper,by summarizing and sorting out domestic and foreign scholars’ literature on the interpersonal skills of children of new citizens, combined with the author’s internship experience, the author determines the children of new citizens in L community of Jinan City as the research object, through the method of interview and questionnaire survey to understand the interpersonal skills of children of new citizens in this community.According to the previous investigation and research,it is found that the children of new citizens in this community have some problems in interpersonal skills, which are specifically manifested as low communication intention, lack of communication and expression ability, poor emotional control ability, and relative lack of emotional support.Through further analysis,it can be found that the reasons for the low interpersonal skills of the children of new citizens are various, mainly reflected in their own, family and community three levels. In order to help the children of new citizens improve their interpersonal skills, the author selected 10 children of new citizens as service objects in L community. With the help of ecosystem theory and social learning theory, the author carried out intervention through the method of group work, and carried out activities from the four dimensions of communicative intention, communication expression, emotional control and emotional support.Through social workers to encourage and guide the group members, strengthen the communication between the group members,to achieve common growth; In addition, social workers fully integrate the strength of members’ families and communities and help them build social support networks,so as to improve their interpersonal skills and promote their healthy development and better integration into society. The practical results show that it is very effective to use group work method to improve the interpersonal skills of the children of new citizens, and it is very necessary for social work to intervene in this group. In addition, through summary and reflection, the author also found the limitations of this group activity. In the process of group practice, social workers should not only pay attention to the quality of activities, but also consider problems as diversified as possible and intervene from multiple perspectives to help the children of new citizens get comprehensive support and fundamentally improve their interpersonal skills. From the perspective of social workers themselves, they should constantly improve their professional level and accumulate experience in practice,so as to provide more professional services for the service objects and better realize helping others and helping themselves.
