Research On The Application Of Short Video In High School Geography Teaching From The Perspective Of Core Literacy

With the implementation of the new curriculum reform,the new curriculum standard has new requirements for the cultivation of core literacy in disciplines.In teaching,more attention is paid to the cultivation of students’ autonomous learning ability and innovative spirit.The "cramming" teaching mode of "teachers speak,students listen" is difficult to meet the current needs for the cultivation of core literacy,and the classroom teaching mode is in urgent need of reform and innovation.At present,with the growing development and popularization of Internet technology,the "Internet plus education" model has become a research hotspot in the education sector.As a new educational medium,short video has the characteristics of being short,concise,and vivid.Applying it to senior high school geography classroom teaching can effectively remedy the limitations of traditional teaching models and further enhance students’ core literacy.However,when most geography teachers in China currently use short videos for teaching,there are problems of insufficient standardization and accuracy,making it difficult to fully utilize the advantages of short videos in classroom teaching.Therefore,based on the scientific definition of the concept and types of short videos,this article,based on constructivist learning theory,multiple intelligence theory,audio-visual teaching theory,and information processing theory,conducts a research and analysis of the current situation of short videos applied to geography classroom teaching in senior high schools using literature analysis and questionnaire survey methods.Research findings:(1)Most students recognize that teachers use short videos to assist high school geography classroom teaching in the classroom;(2)Teachers have certain limitations in the selection and production of short videos;(3)Some teachers are unable to handle the relationship between short videos and classroom knowledge well.Secondly,based on the basis of current situation analysis and relevant theories,this article proposes application strategies for short videos in high school geography teaching,which should be based on the principles of highlighting the key points,closely linking teaching content,conforming to students’ cognitive understanding level,and scientific and rigorous video content,and accurately implementing short video application strategies for different class types and different classroom teaching links.Finally,this article takes the compulsory courses "Atmospheric Heating Process and Atmospheric Motion-Thermal Circulation" and "Service Industry Location Factors" as examples to design a case of short video application in high school geography classroom teaching,and has conducted practical research in two classes for six months.The practical results show that the application of short videos in geography teaching in senior high schools has achieved significant results.Through experimental comparison,the interest of students in the experimental class in learning geography has significantly increased,and students’ classroom thinking is more active,classroom discussions are more active,and geography homework completion is better;The test results of the experimental class are better than those of the control class,and the overall performance has improved;The cultivation effect of geographical core literacy in the experimental class is significantly better than that in the control class.For example,when students observe and ponder the relationship between soil and vegetation types in the Ili River Valley,their comprehensive thinking and regional cognitive application abilities are stronger.The research results show that short video assisted geography teaching is highly feasible and highly recognized by teachers and students;It is conducive to the cultivation of students’ core literacy in geography,and is conducive to students’ thinking and analysis;It is helpful for teachers to improve their multimedia operation skills.When using short video to assist geography teaching,teachers should pay attention to the fit between short video materials and learning objectives,reasonably control the playback time of short videos,improve the accuracy of short video classroom teaching,and always maintain the dominant position of students in the classroom.The possible innovation of this study lies in the lack of standardization and accuracy in the application of short videos to geography teaching.It proposes application principles based on highlighting the key points,closely linking teaching content,conforming to students’ cognitive understanding level,and scientific and rigorous video content,and proposes strategies for precise application in different class types and different classroom teaching links.This study provides some reference for promoting the construction of high school geography efficient classroom.
