As one of the four areas of the primary school mathematics curriculum,"Comprehensive and Practice" is of great value to the development of students’ core literacy. However,in practice, there are problems such as inaccurate targeting, inadequate development and use of teaching resources, inadequate reflection of students’ subjectivity in the classroom and one-sided assessment of learning, which require teachers to explore new teaching approaches.Project-based learning is a problem-driven approach in which teachers use projects as a carrier and form project teams to guide students to use mathematical methods to conduct independent investigations around problems, and finally evaluate the results of the project based on the teaching objectives. This new approach can enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning in primary school mathematics and provide a new perspective on teaching and learning in this area. This study uses classroom observation and interviews to examine and summarise the current state of teaching and learning in primary school mathematics.Using constructivist learning theory and discovery learning theory as a guide, the value of project-based learning in "Comprehensive and Practice" is analysed.Compared with traditional teaching methods,project-based learning can facilitate deeper learning for students, promote disciplinary integration, and help teachers achieve professional growth and innovative pedagogy.Through the analysis of different teachers’ "Comprehensive and Practice" lessons,it is concluded that the application of project-based learning in primary school mathematics "Comprehensive and Practice" needs to reflect the integration and innovation of subject knowledge, demonstrate the fun and practicality of mathematical knowledge, highlight students’ active The project-based learning process in primary school needs to reflect innovation in the integration of subject knowledge, demonstrate the fun and practicality of mathematical knowledge, highlight students’ active participation, relate closely to students’ real-life situations, and effectively guide students’ collaborative reflection.Based on the above research, strategies for implementing project-based learning in "Comprehensive and Practice" have been refined and supplemented by interviews with frontline teachers.Firstly,a project plan is developed that is fully equipped with resources for ’practice’.In the project plan, the theme and content of the learning are identified, and the learning resources to be used in each part of the activity are fully prepared,as well as a teaching programme with project-based learning features.Secondly,a teaching process is planned with the application of integrated knowledge at its core, which includes the presentation of authentic and integrated project tasks, the implementation of a projectbased learning plan with a focus on practical enquiry and the completion of a project exchange in a good collaborative atmosphere. Finally, project evaluation is implemented with a focus on the ’Comprehensive and Practice’ learning journey, including the design of assessment content from multiple dimensions, the selection of multiple assessment tools for learning assessment, the enrichment of assessment methods, and the reflection of nurturing values in assessment. The resulting application strategies can help to put the value of project-based learning into practice in the teaching of the subject, improve the quality of teaching and learning in primary school mathematics, and provide reference for front-line primary school mathematics teachers to explore new teaching approaches in the area of "Comprehensive and Practice".It also provides a reference for front-line primary school teachers to explore new teaching approaches in the area of "Comprehensive and Practice"...
