| In the context of today’s globalization development, international cultural exchanges are becoming more and more frequent, and cultural construction has gradually been elevated to the height of the overall development strategy of each country. As an important part of China’s national cultural strategy construction, the education of international students in China has been given an important role.In early2020,the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic caused a strong impact on the education of international students in China. With the gradual normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the world has entered the "post-epidemic era".In the post-epidemic era, international students are facing more cross-cultural adaptation dilemmas, and traditional international student education cannot fully adapt to students’ educational needs. Therefore,in order to deepen the cultural identity of international students in China in the post-epidemic era, improve the cross-cultural adaptation level of international students, and promote the transformation and upgrading of services for studying in China,it is necessary to conduct research on the cross-cultural adaptation of international students in China in the post-epidemic era.Based on the previous theories and empirical research on cross-cultural adaptation, this study investigates and analyzes the cross-cultural adaptation strategies,cross-cultural adaptation representations and influencing factors of cross-cultural adaptation of domestic and foreign students in the post-epidemic era through questionnaire survey and other research methods, and on this basis, the education of international students in China’s post-epidemic era is considered and specific countermeasures and suggestions are proposed. The first part mainly introduces the research design of cross-cultural adaptation of international students in China in the post-epidemic era. This study is mainly based on the theory of cross-cultural adaptation of Ward and Berry, and constructs a theoretical analysis framework from four sets of variables: demographic variables,cross-cultural adaptation strategies,cross-cultural adaptation types and social support, and puts forward research hypotheses based on previous research. In the specific survey, the "Cross-cultural Adaptation Survey of International Students in China in the Post-epidemic Era" questionnaire was designed to survey domestic and foreign international students, and a total of 202 valid questionnaires were obtained, and the questionnaire data was processed and analyzed by the statistical analysis software SPSS24.0.The second part mainly analyzes the cross-cultural adaptation strategies of international students in China in the post-epidemic era.Based on Bailey’s cross-cultural adaptation strategy model, the cross-cultural adaptation strategies of international students in China in the post-epidemic era in the three adaptation fields of cultural tradition, language use and interpersonal communication are analyzed from the perspective of integration, assimilation, separation and marginalization. It was found that the largest number of people adopted integration strategies overall, followed by assimilation and separation strategies, and finally marginalization strategies. In addition, the group differences of each strategy were analyzed, and it was found that the strategies adopted by each group were different in terms of region, gender, major, nationality, education and Chinese level. The third part mainly analyzes the cross-cultural adaptation characteristics of international students in China in the post-epidemic era.The differentiation of the social and cultural adaptation circle of international students is manifested in the circle structure from the surface adaptation of daily life,to the intermediate adaptation of language and interpersonal communication, and finally to the deep adaptation of values. There are time and space barriers in learning adaptation, and the learning adaptation level of overseas students receiving online education is lower than that of domestic international students;Psychological adaptation showed intergroup differences, and domestic international students, female students, humanities and social science students,Central and West Asian international students, master’s students and international students with high Chinese proficiency had a better level of psychological adaptation. The fourth part analyzes the influencing factors of sociocultural adaptation, learning adaptation and psychological adaptation of international students using correlation and multiple regression. It was found that school teachers had a more significant positive effect on the sociocultural adaptation of international students, and the more support from teachers, the higher the level of sociocultural adaptation of international students. The integration strategy has a significant positive effect on the learning adaptation of domestic and foreign students, and the higher the frequency of international students’ adoption of integration strategies, the higher the level of learning adaptation. The separation strategy has a significant negative effect on the psychological adaptation of domestic international students, and the higher the frequency of domestic international students’ separation strategy, the lower the psychological adaptation level. The fifth part puts forward suggestions on the cross-cultural adaptation of international students in China in the post-epidemic era, including optimizing the curriculum system and enhancing the cross-cultural identity of international students;Innovate the education model and promote the digital transformation of international student education;Adhere to the education of people, promote the high-quality development of international students’ education. |
