| STEAM Education contains three core concepts of discipline integration,problem-solving and technology empowerment,and it can cultivate students’ scientific inquiry ability,problem solving ability,artistic and aesthetic ability and innovation practice ability,which has attracted the wide attention of education circles in recent years.Currently,many primary and secondary schools in China offer STEAM education courses.However,at this stage,STEAM teaching activities lack an operable model,and teachers only teach the traditional "imitation-demonstration",resulting in students’ creativity level staying at the level of imitation and operation.The teacher’s teaching style is single.Teachers emphasize too much on the operation of technology in the classroom,ignoring the students’ understanding of specific situations.As a result,the training of students’ creative ability and innovative thinking is insufficient.This study attempts to integrate Design Thinking models and tools into the design of STEAM teaching activities,and then constructs a "STEAM+3D" teaching activity model integrating Design Thinking,and applies it to elementary school 3D printing classes for practice,in order to cultivate students’ creative ability and innovative thinking.This study consists of six chapters.In the first chapter,based on relevant research backgrounds,this study introduces the purpose and significance,then reviews and analyzes domestic and foreign literature,sorting out the research status of STEAM education and 3D printing courses,identifying the problems existing in current practices,and determines the content and the method.In the second chapter,this study explains four theories including Situational Cognitive,"Learning by Doing",Project-based Learning,and Multi-Intelligence,which provides guidance and basis for this study.This study also defines the concept and definition of Design Thinking,and then lists and compares two classic Design Thinking models including EDIPT and IDEO.In the third chapter,based on the principle of integrating Design Thinking,this study designs teacher teaching and student learning activities with reference to EDIPT and IDEO,integrating them with the "STEAM+3D" teaching model,to construct the "STEAM+3D" teaching activity model integrating Design Thinking.In the fourth chapter,this study applies the model to practice in the 3D printing course for 6th grade elementary school and designs teaching cases of "Symmetry Palace" and "Hainan Opera Stage".In the fifth chapter,this study analyzes the teaching effect through a comparative experiment on students’ creative ability,innovative thinking,3D printing works,and interviews with students,to verify the effectiveness of the model.The results show that the the "STEAM+3D" teaching activity model integrating Design Thinking has a certain effect on cultivating students’ creative ability and innovative thinking ability.The last chapter summarizes this study,analyzes its shortcomings,and proposes further improvements for subsequent research.Innovation: In theory,this study integrates the EDIPT model and IDEO model into the teacher teaching and student learning activities,integrating them with the "STEAM+3D" teaching model,to construct the "STEAM+3D" teaching activity model integrating Design Thinking,and verifies its effectiveness,expanding the application of design thinking in education.In practice,this study designs two teaching cases including "Symmetric Palace" and "Hainan Opera Stage" based on the mode,providing operable guidance for the implementation of the 3D printing course. |
