Online learning has become an important learning method for college students because of its characteristics of personalization,autonomy,and ubiquity in time and space.Online learning engagement is an important indicator to measure the quality of online learning.Therefore,how to improve learners’ online learning engagement and improve the quality of online learning is an important issue that needs attention at present.As an important factor affecting the quality and effectiveness of online learning,instructional interaction can effectively integrate the teaching and learning process and is a key driver of online learning.Existing studies have focused on the positive effect of teaching interactions on online learning engagement,but no study has yet explored the relationship between teaching interactions and online learning engagement in an online learning environment in depth and specifically.Based on this,this study focuses on the theme of "how to design teaching interaction strategies to enhance college students’ engagement in online learning" and explores three core questions:(1)What is the level of college students’ online learning investment in the online learning environment? How about online teaching interaction? What is the effect of different types of teaching interaction on online learning engagement?(2)How to design online learning interaction strategies to promote college students’ learning engagement based on the above questions?(3)What is the effectiveness of the designed online learning interaction strategies in practice?To address the above research questions,this thesis uses a combination of literature research,questionnaires,content analysis,quasi-experimental research,and the following study was derived:(1)Through a questionnaire survey of 151 university students who have taken online learning courses,it was found that the current level of online learning engagement and teaching interaction among college students still needs to be improved,and there are problems such as learners lacking certain learning planning.There is a significant correlation between teaching interaction and online learning participation,as well as between teacher-student interaction and student-student interaction,and content interaction are significantly and positively correlated with online behavior,cognition,and emotional engagement,respectively.The overall effect of teaching interaction on online learning engagement can be explained by the regression equation "online learning engagement = 0.363 + 0.893 × teaching interaction";in the three dimensions of teaching interaction,content interaction has the largest effect,and the effect of each dimension of teaching interaction on online learning engagement can be explained by the multiple regression equation "online learning engagement = 0.363 + 0.893 × teaching interaction".The effect of each dimension of teaching interaction on online learning engagement can be explained by the multiple regression equation "online learning engagement= 0.261 + 0.33 × teacher-student interaction + 0.137 × student-student interaction + 0.439 ×content interaction".(2)Based on the connectionist learning theory,the thesis proposes the principles of instructional interaction design for online learning engagement,and constructs a framework for instructional interaction design in three aspects: the overall goal,the main ways,and the intervention process,and designs specific teaching interaction strategies in terms of teacherstudent interaction,student-student interaction and content interaction based on the effect of teaching interaction on online learning engagement.The strategies for behavioral engagement include online monitoring,organizing cooperative learning activities,and clarifying course assessment criteria;for cognitive engagement,the strategies include focusing on "triggering" events,setting up peer evaluation mechanisms,and guiding goal plans;for affective engagement,the strategies include providing feedback and support,building a social interactive environment,and enriching interactive forms of learning resources.(3)Based on the "Virtual Learning Environment Design and Development" course and the Moodle learning platform of Educational Technology,we applied the above teaching interaction strategies to the practical teaching of the course and And the quasi-experimental research method is used to verify the implementation effect of teaching interaction strategy from the two dimensions of online learning engagement level and process.The results showed that the online behavioral engagement level of learners was improved to a certain extent,with the greatest increase in the "concentration" dimension;the online cognitive engagement level of learners was boosted to a certain extent,especially the deep cognitive engagement level;the online emotional engagement level of learners was significantly increased and the negative emotion was improved to a certain extent.Based on the above findings,the influence mechanism model of teaching interaction on online learning engagement established in this study can provide reference for the design of interactive activities in online learning environment,and the designed instructional interaction strategy for online learning engagement can effectively promote learners’ online behavioral,cognitive and emotional engagement,which has certain theoretical contribution and practical value to the development of online learning.
