The newly implemented "General High School Geography Curriculum Standards" emphasize the necessity of incorporating nature and society into high school geography education and establishing a strong connection between geography teaching and students’ lives.Vernacular geography resources being closely associated with students’ real-life experiences.Integrating vernacular geography resources into geography education enables students to acquire practical knowledge relevant to their lives.Consequently,the author proposes unit teaching as a viable method for incorporating local geographic resources and geography teaching content,assisting educators in effectively utilizing local geographic resources in their instruction.Under the guidance of standards,this study integrating local geography resources into unit teaching to fulfill the new talent training requirements stipulated by the curriculum reform.This paper employs literature research and questionnaire survey analysis methods to review the literature and analyze the research background and significance of this study by summarizing the current state and achievements of research on vernacular geography resources and unit teaching both domestically and internationally.The author distributed questionnaires to frontline high school geography teachers to gauge their understanding of unit teaching and assess students’ vernacular cognition.Identifying issues from the survey results and combining them with unit teaching principles,the study proposes a high school geography unit teaching framework reliant on vernacular geographic resources,assisting in the design of subsequent unit teaching cases.The article integrates theoretical and empirical research by designing and implementing a unit teaching plan centered on the regarding industrial location factors,incorporating Foshan’s geographic resources into geography teaching and employing various evaluation methods to empirically assess the effectiveness of the unit teaching approach.For determine whether student learning outcomes and literacy implementation are affected by combining unit teaching with local geography resources.The research findings indicate that enhancing the application of local geography resources in high school geography education yields positive teaching outcomes.Unit teaching effectively improves students’ geographic literacy and their problem-finding and problem-solving abilities in the classroom.Furthermore,students’ academic performance experiences varying degrees of improvement.
