| Daily communication etiquette and customs are the etiquette and customs mainly represented by traditional,customary,experiential,and natural emotions,such as exchanging etiquette for communication,weddings and funerals,drinking,eating,and housing behavior,which are rooted in the daily life world of Chinese people.In the continuous development of digital life today,as a value orientation,thinking mode,or way of life,it has deeply penetrated into the digital world.This article will start from the framework of domestication theory,adopt a research method that combines in-depth interviews and participatory observation,and combine the concept of digital etiquette and customs to examine the interactive behavior practices of We Chat Moments,which are widely used in Chinese daily life.It will explore how users with different life contexts can misappropriate and embed daily communication etiquette and customs into the new media space from the perspective of Chinese social culture,Examining the complex and dynamic domestication process of media technology by humans.Research has found that the interaction function between people and We Chat Moments needs to go through a pre domestication stage,where media technology has been endowed with certain functional presuppositions and symbolic meanings by its producers and designers.When facing an emerging media technology,users will imagine it based on their own experience and needs.After a period of use,We Chat Moments have shown a distinct Chinese style individual relationship network structure feature: a differential order pattern.At this point,the user will begin to formally domesticate the interactive function based on their personal experience.Influenced by traditional relational behavior patterns,users have begun to consciously engage in behaviors such as "reciprocity" and "saving face".According to the user’s transformation of self presentation in We Chat Moments,interactive functions are reconstructed in two directions for people’s social behavior: one is the highlight of mixed social relationships,and the other is the ritualized interaction of online and offline mixing.After experiencing appropriation,objectification,and integration,the already domesticated media technology has re-entered the public domain and adapted to the social customs in the context of Chinese social culture,resulting in three dimensions of transformation: emotional relationship,mixed relationship,and instrumental relationship.People have developed different interactive behaviors based on different interaction objects and formed certain behavioral norms.The domestication research on the interactive behavior of We Chat Moments is a media practice established from the perspective of Chinese social culture.During this process,users are influenced by Chinese cultural norms and the structural characteristics of Chinese style individual relationship networks,exerting their personal initiative in different situations,and forming unique domestication strategies for the interactive function of We Chat Moments. |
