Since the 21 st century,China’s population aging has become increasingly serious.According to the data of the seventh population census,China’s elderly population exceeds264 million, and the number of widowed elderly is nearly 50 million. The aging degree of China’s population is deepening. And as the age of the elderly population increases, the total number of widowed elderly people in China will continue to grow Psychological Adjustment for Remarriage of the Elderly proposes that remarriage can improve individual emotional well-being,delay aging, and reduce the incidence of illness for the elderly population. However, due to traditional cultural prejudice, children’s obstruction, property division and recognition,as well as psychological barriers for the elderly, widowed elderly people also face a dilemma, especially in rural areas.Due to the barriers of information dissemination, the issue of remarriage among elderly groups in rural areas has become a universal social issue.Through reading the literature,it is found that the current research on the remarriage problem of elderly groups in rural areas mainly focuses on the widowed women group, and lacks necessary attention to the widowed elderly men in rural areas. From the perspective of social work, this article takes C Village in Yuncheng City as an example, using the method of case work to investigate the remarriage barriers of widowed elderly men in rural areas. This article selects six widowed elderly men from Village C in Yuncheng City as the research object.Using the research methods of literature research, participatory observation, and unstructured interview,it is deeply understood that the remarriage needs of widowed elderly men mainly include four aspects: family division of labor balance, daily life care, spiritual comfort at ordinary times, and restructuring of social networks. However, factors such as pessimism and fear, economic income, child support, and feudal public opinion pressure have hindered remarriage.Based on this, the most typical of the six widowed elderly men was selected for case intervention.Through communication and understanding with the case owner,it was found that the remarriage obstacles of the case owner were manifested in three aspects: insufficient self-awareness,poor communication with family members, and feudal public opinion pressure. Therefore, based on the advantage perspective theory and social support theory, nine intervention activities were conducted to intervene with the case owner.Firstly, the problem of insufficient self cognition of the case owner.By adjusting the client’s misconceptions, exploring their own strengths, building self-confidence,and enhancing their sense of identity.Secondly, regarding the communication between the case owner and his family, through intervention with the case owner’s family,a platform for communication between the case owner and his family is established to obtain support from the family for the remarriage of the case owner. Then the question of feudal public opinion pressure.Relying on the resources of the village committee to help the case owner understand the trend of public opinion, reconstruct the social support network, and find remarriage targets, thereby providing more possibilities for the case owner to enter the state of remarriage. Finally, the service process is evaluated, closed, and analyzed, and the issue of remarriage of widowed elderly men in rural areas is summarized and recommended in order to better serve the solution of related issues.
