Under the dual effect of self-alienation and social rejection, patients with mental disorders are very likely to develop a sense of stigma. This irrational self-perception,in the context of semantic generalization, gradually embeds itself in patients’ thinking patterns and personality systems in the form of irrational beliefs, which has a negative function on patients’ emotional experience, value evaluation and treatment effects, which is not conducive to the construction of a stable inner world for the group with mental disorders, delays the treatment process of this group, and greatly hinders their normal participation in social life. This study focuses on the stigma of patients with mental disorders, and the author participated in the life, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with mental disorders in a tertiary-level psychiatric hospital in Shanxi Province. In addition, after analyzing the current social situation, the author found that the awareness of mental disorder patients could not be improved rapidly within a short period of time, and the changes of medical and welfare systems still need multiple efforts and multi-faceted cooperation. Therefore, the author takes the reconstruction of patients’ own cognition as the focus, gives full play to the advantages of social workers, analyzes the overall needs of patients, explores the current situation and process of patients’ sense of shame, uses the theory of emotional ABC and group dynamics as the basis, and incorporates the theory of emotional ABC into the activities carried out based on seven group work sessions, reconstructs patients’ cognition of shame, and brings into play The endogenous motivation generated by the group itself stimulated the patients’ willingness to make changes gradually. At the end of the group activities, the author conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the results of the group activities, reflected on the overall service process, and proposed relevant interventions and solutions from different perspectives.Through this group work, the author believes that group work can play its own advantage in correcting patients’ cognition and provide relevant services for patients with stable mental disorders,so as to achieve the purpose of reducing the stigma of patients with mental disorders. It is hoped that this study can provide some reference and help for future group work to intervene in mental disorder groups and reduce the stigma.
