An Investigation On The Living Conditions Of Rural Middle School Teachers

In recent years,local governments of all levels have gradually attached importance to rural teachers and promulgated a series of policies in favor of rural teachers.As an important force in the development of rural education,rural middle school teachers play a key role in connecting the past and the future.Its survival status is related to the improvement of rural education level and the promotion of national education reform.This research makes full use of literature analysis,questionnaire,interview,observation and other research methods to study the living state of rural middle school teachers from four aspects,including material living state,spiritual living state,professional development state.Taking the teachers of rural middle schools in X city as the research object,the questionnaire survey and in-depth interview were carried out to record the pictures of the working and living environment of the teachers.Through the research,it is found that the problems of the living state of the teachers in rural middle schools in X city are mainly manifested in the following aspects.Firstly,in the material living,the teachers’ salary level is unsatisfactory,the welfare treatment is poor,and the pay and return are not in direct proportion;The working and living environment of teachers needs to be improved,and the accommodation of teachers is poor and in short supply.The incidence of occupational diseases of teachers is extremely high,and their health is not guaranteed.The structural shortage of teachers,the shortage of teachers in minor subjects and the unreasonable ratio of teachers to students lead to heavy workload and psychological pressure.Secondly,in the aspect of spiritual survival,teachers’ social status is relatively low;the phenomenon of teachers’ job burnout is serious,mainly because of the heavy workload,the poor student source and the serious loss of students.Finally,in the aspect of professional development,some teachers’ teaching subjects are not in line with their specialities,mainly due to the shortage of teachers in minor subjects;some teachers are lack of professional competence.Their quality of teaching is difficult to guarantee;There are fewer training opportunities for teachers,especially the level of provincial and municipal,the training effect is not satisfactory and the teaching and research activities need to be improved.There are many reasons for the existing problems of rural middle school teachers.From the perspective of the government,the government’s investment in rural education is insufficient and the implementation and supervision of policies are not in place;from the perspective of the school,school management is modeled and the school incentive and evaluation system is unreasonable.From the perspective of the teachers,some teachers have low moral cultivation,outdated concepts and complicated family affairs.From the social level,the social public opinion support is insufficient and the risk of teachers’ professional is high.Based on the analysis of the existing problems and causes of the rural middle school teachers’ living conditions,the following four aspects are needed to improve their living conditions: Firstly,strengthen the policy and material guarantees of rural education.It includes improving teachers’ material treatment,constructing reasonable and feasible education supervision system.Secondly,implement the humanization of school management including giving humanistic care to teachers,establishing a fair and pluralistic system of teacher evaluation and promotion,reducing teachers’ burden reasonably,Thirdly,improve teachers’ subjective initiative.It includes strengthening the study and practice of teachers’ ethics,setting up the goal of professional development and making the plan of professional development.Fourthly,construct the social fashion of respecting teachers and valuing education.
