In the traditional social concept,sex is a sensitive or even taboo topic,and people can only slowly develop an understanding of sex as they get older.With the rapid development of the internet and social media in the new era,the public’s ways to acquire sexual knowledge are increasing,the cognitive level is also continuously improving,and people’s sexual concepts are becoming more and more open.At the same time,many hidden social phenomena begin to be exposed,such as the sexual assault of boys and girls,early pregnancy of teenagers,AIDS transmission,etc.The continuous emergence of such problems shows that the physical and mental health of minors is being infringed upon,and the comprehensive popularization of sex education among children should be put on the agenda as soon as possible.At present,child sex education is in the initial stage of development in China,and a professional education system has not been established yet.Parents lack a role in family sex education,schools have not set up systematic sex education courses,and the development of children’s sex education is faced with many problems.Social work,as a discipline with the concept of helping others to help themselves and professional work methods,can play a role in it and open up an effective path to help the development of children’s sex education.In recent years,scholars and social workers have repeatedly applied it to sex education services.This study is a practice of using group work involved in child sex education.The study used questionnaire,interview and participatory observation,through the preliminary research of 110 children in Q community to understand the status quo of community sex education.Based on the attitudes and needs of children and parents for participating in the group activities,a total of eight children,four local and migrant children,were selected as team members to open sex education groups.Focusing on the guidance of social learning theory and group dynamics theory,from the three dimensions of physiological knowledge,self-care consciousness and ability and gender concept,assist the team members to understand the basic reproductive processes,master the private parts protection and sexual assault prevention methods,develop a correct social gender concept.Finally,the post-test questionnaire and interview were used to evaluate the intervention effect of the sex education team on the eight team members.According to the evaluation results,it can be seen that the sexual knowledge level of the group members has been improved after six group activities,especially with a clearer understanding of the meaning of equality between men and women,which fully verifies the effectiveness and applicability of the group work intervention in children’s sex education.Finally,this study reflects on the deficiencies in the practical exploration and puts forward corresponding suggestions,aiming to make some supplement to the practice of the group working methods in the field of child sex education.
