In view of the urgency of promoting the construction of a lifelong education system and the in-depth research on university responsibility in the academic field,this paper mainly focuses on the issue of university responsibility for lifelong education and explores the research in four aspects: the concept and characteristics of university responsibility for lifelong education,the necessity and possibility,the establishment of the main body,and the realization,in an effort to form an accurate understanding of university responsibility for lifelong education and promote the landing and realization of current university practice of lifelong education.In this paper,we aim to develop an accurate understanding of the responsibility of universities for lifelong education and promote the implementation and realization of lifelong education practice.Specifically,this paper mainly covers the following aspects.First,an analysis of the lifelong educational responsibility of universities.The lifelong education responsibility of universities refers to the fact that formal institutions of higher education with two or three or more disciplines,which are engaged in undergraduate education or higher,should open their doors to students and all educated people who wish to resume their studies or acquire new knowledge and skills,with the aim of serving all members of society for lifelong learning,and make themselves the key institutions of lifelong learning and fulfill the mission of providing lifelong education services by building a lifelong education system on campus from the system to the results.By building a system of lifelong education from institutions to outcomes,the university aims to become a key institution for lifelong learning and fulfill its mission of providing lifelong education services.The lifelong education responsibility of universities is characterized by universality,compensation,compulsion,super-utilitarianism,and boundaries,and is related to and different from the social education responsibility of universities,the community education responsibility of universities,and the adult education responsibility of universities.Second,the necessity and possibility for universities to assume the responsibility of lifelong education.The necessity of lifelong education responsibility for universities is reflected in the following three aspects: it is the objective requirement of building an education system that serves lifelong learning for all people;it is the inevitable demand of promoting the whole development of human life;and it is the rightful meaning of realizing the social service function of universities.The possibility of universities taking on the responsibility of lifelong education is reflected in three aspects: the state’s strong support for the development of lifelong education;the university’s own rich resources;and the recognition and expectation of society members for lifelong learning.Third,the establishment of the responsibility of university lifelong education.The establishment of university lifelong education responsibility should be reflected in four aspects: the establishment of lifelong education-related laws and regulations makers;the establishment of lifelong education-related policies makers;the establishment of university constitution makers;and the self-establishment of educated people’s responsibility for university lifelong education.Fourth,the realization of the responsibility of lifelong education in universities.In the process of assuming lifelong education responsibility,universities may be influenced by the following factors: the restraint and regulation of laws and morals,the environmental regulation of social opinions and rewards and punishments,and the establishment of lifelong education responsibility and responsibility capacity.The path of realizing the lifelong education responsibility of the university mainly starts from the following five aspects: adhering to the concept of lifelong education and establishing the lifelong education responsibility consciousness of the university;expanding the social service function and enhancing the lifelong education responsibility ability of the university;regulating the service scope procedure and formulating the lifelong education responsibility system of the university;clarifying the service target orientation and implementing the lifelong education responsibility behavior of the university;based on the creation of high and deep knowledge and consolidating the achievements of the achievements.The successful realization of universities’ lifelong education responsibility also needs to be ensured by the following five aspects: improving universities’ lifelong education responsibility policies and regulations;forming universities’ lifelong education research institutions;strengthening universities’ lifelong education financial investment support;cultivating universities’ lifelong education professional faculty;and establishing universities’ lifelong education responsibility supervision and evaluation mechanisms.
