| Under the leadership of consumerism,modern culture is taking a visual turn,gradually transforming into a form of perceptivism centered on vision.As a rapidly rising world-class cultural phenomenon in the 21 st century,the sports development of the League of Legends event communication also has this feature,through visual presentation to the audience construction and transmission of esports culture and significance.In this paper,the live text of the 2022 League of Legends Worlds Final(Chinese stream)is selected for visual communication analysis and research.As an annual e-sports event,the dissemination of the 2022 League of Legends Worlds Final is significant and representative in China.By studying the visual communication of live broadcast text,the visual presentation of esports is analyzed,and how to construct and transmit esports culture and significance,what kind of esports culture and significance is constructed and transmitted,and how to obtain the audience’s identification of esports culture.At the same time,this is an innovative attempt to carry out visual analysis on the complete text of esports live broadcast.It is not only a discussion on the benign interaction between esports live broadcast and visual communication,but also an enrichment of the theory of esports communication.This paper firstly combs and summarizes the existing literature to find theoretical support for the research.Then,combined with semiotics theory and media event theory,this paper interprets and analyzes the meaning of the live broadcast text at two levels from the macro and micro perspectives,and studies the visual symbols presented in the live broadcast text of the Worlds Final of S12.Finally,it summarizes and generalizes the characteristics of visual communication in the Worlds Final of S12,reflects on the exisiting problems and deficiencies in visual communication of current esports,and puts forward relevant suggestions.The study found that,as a world-class media event,the live broadcast of the Worlds Final of S12 was a grand coronation ceremony created by the media and themed on e-sports.The live broadcast lasted 6 hours and 24 minutes covered six sections,with "contest","Coronation" and "Conquest" as the main narrative forms.Through the combination and presentation of visual elements,it tells the three themes of " DRX’s Autumn fairy tale ","the duel between two alumni of Mapo" and "the journey of a new generation of challengers".It constructs and transmits the competition culture and significance of "never fear strong enemies,never give up","never yield in spite of reverses,never pursue dreams","the inheritance of the spirit of e-sports" and "unremitting pursuit of victory" advocated by e-sports.The spread of the event features:new technology to enrich the spectator experience,the pursuit of epic visual spectacle,the creation of pleasure first mimicry and return to the essence of "human".This live broadcast played a positive role in constructing and spreading the spirit and culture of e-sports,gathering the thoughts and emotions of participants and realizing social memory,etc.It has significant reference significance and positive promoting role for the development of e-sports live broadcast in the future.But at the same time,in visual communication,the marginalization of women,the fierce pursuit of champions,the lack of local elements and the solidification of the circle remain problems.In the context of modern society dominated by communication level of e-sports events will help improve the social recognition of e-sports and promote the sports-oriented development and high-quality development of e-sports in China. |
