| With the deepening of population aging, the accelerated flow of rural population to cities and the family structure tends to be miniaturized and centralized, and the family care dilemma of the disabled elderly in rural areas has become increasingly prominent, but under the influence of the traditional concept of filial piety and the singleness of rural care resources, the family is still the main body of care chosen by the disabled elderly. In this process, what is the current situation of intergenerational care in modern families, what changes have occurred in intergenerational family relations, and the difficulties faced in the process of intergenerational care and the causes and countermeasures discussed are of certain value. Therefore, from the perspective of intergenerational exchange theory, this paper selects W village in Jilin Province as the investigation site, takes the disabled elderly and their family caregivers in the village as the interview objects, uses the participatory observation method and semi-structured interview method to conduct an in-depth analysis of the family life care status of the rural disabled elderly, combines the intergenerational exchange theory to explore the causes behind it,and finds feasible measures suitable for the long-term care and development of rural families in China. The study finds that the current situation of intergenerational care of the disabled elderly in W village shows that there is an imbalance in the flow of intergenerational resources between parents and offspring, and there are complex rational exchange relationships and instrumental exchange relationships between generations. On the basis of the current situation,it is found that the dilemma of caring for the disabled elderly in rural areas is mainly manifested in the three levels of parents, offspring and disabled families, and parents are in a disadvantageous position in the process of intergenerational resource exchange, especially the cost paid to the offspring is higher than the remuneration feedback of the offspring, and the payment cost is weakened due to the loss of the parent’s ability to work, and the intergenerational resources of the family are tilted towards the next generation.Increased caregiving responsibilities and costs of care for offspring in family care, especially lack of specialized nursing skills and alternative resources for care,in rural areas;Intergenerational contradictions in disabled families are prominent, especially the unequal payment of intergenerational resources and intergenerational tensions. These difficulties make the family care problem of the disabled elderly in rural areas still serious, and the gap in the long-term care needs of the elderly still exists. The intergenerational exchange theory and social exchange theory were used to discuss the causes of the family care dilemma of the disabled elderly, and the above dilemma was led to the change of the ethical concept of intergenerational family responsibility, the insufficient care resources within the family and the insufficient support of social care resources, resulting in the delay in meeting the family care needs of the disabled elderly. This paper makes suggestions from the aspects of family and social organizations, optimizes the family care of the disabled elderly, maintains the main care status of family care, intervenes in a variety of care models to alleviate the pressure of family caregivers, and satisfies the services for the disabled elderly to complete care at home.Parents meet the care needs of the elderly by purchasing alternative resource services;Mobilize the market and other social forces to participate in rural family care services, provide multi-faceted family care services for the disabled elderly, meet their care needs, and improve their quality of life. |
