The development of internet technology in the 21 st century has made connections between various parts of the world closer,while also accompanied by increasingly fierce competition,making universities the main battlefield for cultivating innovative talents.The Ministry of Education added a new undergraduate program called "Virtual Reality Technology" in 2020,incorporating virtual reality technology into the scope of undergraduate education.However,there is still a phenomenon of "excess practice and insufficient innovation" in current teaching practices.The blended learning mode combines online and offline learning,allowing students to engage in personalized learning within a limited amount of time;Design thinking,as a methodology that supports learners’ innovative thinking and problem-solving,has a mature set of thinking concepts and tool methods.The combination of the two can make up for the deficiencies in teaching and cultivate students’ innovative thinking.This study is based on design thinking and blended learning mode,with the course "Virtual Reality Design" as the carrier,and the cultivation of innovative thinking and the improvement of teaching effectiveness as the foothold.It constructs a blended learning activity for college students from the perspective of design thinking,and verifies the effectiveness of this activity in cultivating innovative thinking through quasi experimental research methods.The aim is to better cultivate students’ innovative thinking and improve teaching effectiveness.This study focuses on the central question of "how to enable students to systematically master knowledge and skills and cultivate innovative thinking within a limited time",and focuses on answering the following questions:(1)How to design blended learning activities based on design thinking?(2)How to implement blended learning activities based on design thinking?(3)How to test the effectiveness of blended learning activities based on design thinking,that is,can the integration of design thinking and blended learning improve the teaching effectiveness of the course "Virtual Reality Design" and cultivate innovative thinking among college students?Research and review relevant literature on design thinking,innovative thinking,blended learning models,and virtual reality courses both domestically and internationally.Analyze the current research status of design thinking,blended learning models,and virtual reality course teaching.Based on relevant theoretical foundations and design thinking and blended learning models,a blended learning activity based on design thinking is constructed by analyzing teaching objectives,teaching resources,learning activities,and teaching evaluation.A quasi experimental study was conducted in the Department of Digital Media Arts at M University.Prior to the start of the experiment,measurement tools were used to measure the innovative thinking levels of the experimental group and the control group.Based on this,the experimental group implemented blended learning activities for college students from the perspective of design thinking.After the experiment,analyzing the data before and after the experiment,it was found that the innovative thinking level of the experimental group students had significantly improved,and the course satisfaction was high.Through in-depth interviews with some students in the experimental class and analysis of their works and online interaction behavior,it was verified that blended learning activities from the perspective of design thinking are effective in cultivating innovative thinking among college students and improving teaching effectiveness.
