| Non suicidal self injury(NSSI)refers to the behavior of intentionally, repeatedly, and directly harming one’s own body tissues without the purpose of committing suicide, without causing death and not being accepted by society. It is hereinafter referred to as NSSI behavior. This behavior has become a very serious global public health problem with a very high incidence, especially among young people.NSSI seriously affects the physical and mental health of millions of young people every year.It can be said that adolescence is the peak period of NSSI occurrence [1].Many studies have shown that family function has a significant predictive effect on NSSI,and individuals with poorer family function have a higher incidence of NSSI.There have been many studies on the relationship between the two,but less research has been conducted on the underlying mechanism. After reading relevant literature, the author has introduced emotional regulation function as a variable to deeply explore the impact of family function on NSSI and the underlying mechanism,in order to prevent and intervene in NSSI behavior,Provide theoretical basis for reducing the incidence of NSSI behavior.Through a questionnaire survey, this study selected the Adolescent Self Injury Questionnaire,Family Function Rating Scale(FAD),and Emotional Regulation Scale(DERS),combined with demographic variables,to analyze the status quo of non suicidal self injury behavior among 505 students in a private secondary vocational school in Yunnan, and to explore the influencing factors and internal mechanisms of self injury behavior. The main research results are as follows:1.The incidence of NSSI among vocational school students is relatively high, with a higher proportion of female students self injuring themselves than male students. The most commonly used method of self injury is "intentionally scratching one’s own skin with glass, knives, etc.",followed by "intentionally hitting walls or harder objects with hands",and the least commonly used method is "intentionally causing oneself to get an electric shock without life-threatening situations".Middle school is the peak time for self injury behavior, and the main motivation for behavior is emotional, emotional, and behavioral loss of control;2.Gender,parental relationships, running away from home, future planning, romantic experiences, whether family members have committed suicide, self injury, and whether classmates and friends have committed suicide have an impact on NSSI behavior among vocational school students;3.Family function can positively predict the level of self injury behavior among vocational school students. The worse the family function, the higher the level of self injury among vocational school students. The emotional regulation function has an impact on self injury behavior. The worse the emotional regulation function, the higher the level of self injury.Family function has an impact on emotional regulation function, and the worse the family function, the worse the emotional regulation function;4.The emotional regulation function will have an impact on the self injury behavior of vocational school students through family functions; In order to gain an in-depth understanding of the specific situation, behavioral reasons, motivation, purpose, and internal mechanism of self injury among secondary vocational school students,in-depth interviews were conducted with students who had experienced NSSI behavior in the past year, and the following conclusions were reached:1.Respondents are generally troubled by negative emotions, lacking the ability to control emotions and emotional adjustment methods, and attempting to release negative emotions through NSSI;2.The interviewees have issues such as lack of family emotions, poor communication, poor parent-child relationships(mainly lack of paternity),and generally low levels of family economic income;3.Poor interpersonal relationships and communication barriers are common in peer relationships;4.After implementing NSSI behavior,it affects and changes one’s own cognition and behavior, such as uncontrollable repeated implementation of NSSI behavior. Finally, based on the questionnaire and interview results, this study proposes a series of constructive and targeted suggestions and measures, providing empirical research evidence for further prevention and intervention of non suicidal self injury behavior, and promoting the mental health growth of vocational school students. |
