| In recent years, with the rapid development of my country’s economy and the improvement of medical standards, the average life expectancy of the population is also increasing. The elderly population continues to grow, and the aging trend in my country intensifies.Coupled with the accelerated urbanization process, the family structure has also undergone great changes.More and more young people choose to work in other places, and the number of empty-nesters has increased.Although empty-nesters in cities have the guarantee of material life, they need to pay attention to their psychological problems, such as depression and anxiety.First of all, empty nesters lack channels for emotional catharsis, and the depression of the elderly cannot be channeled in time;secondly,if their children are not accompanied, the depression of empty nesters will be significantly higher than that of other elderly people. Therefore,it has certain theoretical and practical significance to study the depression of urban empty nesters. This study takes Grandpa Li in the D community as the service object, and uses the Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS-15)to conduct a detailed and in-depth analysis of the performance of the service object’s depression and emotional needs. The survey results show that the service object has irrational beliefs, and has a strong need to establish rational beliefs and relieve depression.Due to subjective and objective reasons, the needs of the service object cannot be met. Therefore, this paper is guided by the theory of rational emotions, and develops practice from four stages to help the service object find irrational beliefs, establish correct rational thinking, consolidate and learn rational thinking, and successfully close the case. The effect of the intervention is then evaluated, and the conclusion of the case is finally drawn.Casework can promote the alleviation of depression in urban empty nesters;social workers can integrate resources to maximize the benefits of service recipients;rational emotional behavior therapy can alleviate urban empty nesters. The effect of depression in the elderly is significant. At the same time, this paper also discusses the limitations of rational emotional behavior therapy,in order to provide experience and inspiration for the future application of the case intervention model based on rational emotional theory to alleviate depression in urban empty nesters. |
