Research On The Current Situation And Promotion Stragegies Of Kindergarten Male Teachers’ Professional Development

With the strong support of the state and society,the ranks of kindergarten male teachers are gradually growing,which not only set a positive male example for children,but also promote the optimization of the structure of preschool teachers.At the same time,with the growth of the number of male kindergarten teachers,how to improve their development level in order to give full play to the unique value of male teachers in preschool education has become an important issue troubling kindergarten administrators and male teachers themselves.In the related research of the increasingly rich male kindergarten teachers,most studies focus on the analysis of the professional adaptation and survival of male teachers,and pay less attention to the professional development of male teachers,especially male teachers.Accordingly,this study focuses on three questions:(1)what is the current level of professional development of male kindergarten teachers?(2)what are the problems in the professional development of male teachers? What are the causes of these problems?(3)how to promote the professional development of male teachers?On the basis of previous studies and the Professional Standards for Kindergarten Teachers(trial),this study investigates the professional development level of male kindergarten teachers in N city from five dimensions: professional attitude,professional autonomy,professional concept and ethics,professional knowledge and professional ability.The study found that: the overall development level of male teachers is good at present,but there are some problems in some dimensions.It includes:(1)Professional attitude: the cognitive level of the value of preschool teacher profession is low;(2)professional autonomy: the level of self-regulation and self-reflection needs to be improved;(3)professional ability: communication and cooperation ability and research ability are weak.Combined with gender organization theory,self-determination theory and professional learning community theory,the data obtained from the interview are analyzed.The reasons for the problems in the professional development of male kindergarten teachers are summarized as follows:(1)professional characteristics become a hidden barrier to the improvement of male teachers’ professional attitude;(2)it is difficult to stimulate the internal motivation of male teachers’ development in kindergarten;(3)the male Teachers’ Union can not fully meet the needs of the development of male teachers’ professional ability.On the basis of the above analysis,this study puts forward the strategies to promote the professional development of male teachers from the perspectives of male teachers themselves,kindergarten and male teachers’ union.(1)male teachers should be clear about their own teaching advantages and form a positive professional attitude in the course of development;(2)kindergartens should build an independent and open environment to enhance male teachers’ professional autonomy;(3)male teachers’ alliance should optimize departments and activity organizations.to help male teachers develop their professional ability.The tripartite efforts of teachers,kindergartens and male teachers’ alliance will jointly promote the professional development of kindergarten male teachers,and promote the structural optimization and quality improvement of preschool teachers.
