| Research objective: The aim of this study is to provide a reference for physical intervention in ASD children,by investigating the influence of light apparatus gymnastics exercise on the level of gross motor development in ASD children by means of the intervention of light apparatus gymnastics in ASD children aged 7-12 years,so as to supply some reference for the physical intervention of children with ASD.Research Methods: Five research methods were specifically used: literature method, interview method, observation method, experimental method, and mathematical and statistical method, among which the experimental method was the main one.Twenty children with ASD aged 7-12 years were recruited from the Guangzhou Association for the Intellectually Disabled and their Relatives and Friends, and one subject who did not meet the eligibility criteria and one subject who did not participate in the experiment completely were excluded, and a total of eighteen subjects finally completed the experiment.Using random sampling, subjects were randomly allocated to the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group(n=9)performing light apparatus gymnastics for 8 weeks and the control group(n=9)performing regular physical education activities. The impact of the intervention were evaluated using the Autism Treatment Evaluation Criteria(ATEC)and the third version of the Gross Motor Development Scale(TGMD-3)before and after the experimental intervention. Finally, the data were collected, organized and entered into SPSS 26.0 software for statistical analysis.Research results:(1)Following the experimental intervention, the total scores on the TGMD-3scale in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with a significant difference(p<0.05).The two items of dribble and catch in the experimental group had a very significant improvement compared with the control group(p<0.01).(2)In comparison with the pre-intervention,the experimental group showed a highly significant increase in the total score of the TGMD-3 scale(p<0.01),including the scores of run, hop, and slide in the locomotor skills and the scores of dribble, catch, and kick in the ball skills(p<0.01).In the control group, there was a significant improvement in the score of only one item,run(p>0.05),and no significant difference in the rest of the items(p>0.05).(3)Following the experimental intervention, the experimental group significantly improved over the control group in three ATEC scale domains: language, social, and perceptual/cognitive(p<0.05),but not healthy physiological behavior.(p<0.05).(4)In comparison with the pre-intervention,the experimental group showed highly significant improvements(p<0.01)in three aspects of the ATEC scale, including language, social skills, and sensory/cognitive skills, the healthy physiological behavior aspects showed significant improvements(p<0.05).The control group showed no significant improvement in any of the four aspects of the ATEC scale(p>0.05),and the intervention effect was not significant.Research conclusion:(1)The 8-week light apparatus gymnastics exercise intervention had a positive impact on gross motor development of ASD children, and had a highly significant effect on improving their gross motor abilities.(2)Both interventions contributed to the development of gross motor skills in ASD children, but the training effect of light apparatus gymnastics was better than that of regular physical education classes, which was more beneficial to gross motor development of ASD children.(3)The intervention of 8 weeks of light apparatus gymnastics exercise can effectively improve the autism symptoms of ASD children, including language, social skills,sensory/cognitive skills and healthy physiological behavior in four aspects. |
