A Study On The Present Situation Of College Students’ Volunteer Spirit And Its Cultivation Approaches

At present,China has built a well-off society in an all-round way,and is embarking on a new journey of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way and marching towards the goal of the second century.The Party and the state attach great importance to the development of voluntary service.Report to the 20 th CPC National Congress of the Party has put forward new requirements for perfecting the voluntary service system and work system,which has pointed out the direction for the voluntary service and provided fundamental followup.Volunteerism,as the spiritual strength in voluntary service activities,is the internal motivation to participate in voluntary service.In the party’s Report to the 20 th CPC National Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping encouraged young people to bloom in the fiery practice of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way.College students are born in right era.They dare to think and act,and they can finish from the beginning to the end.They are the main force of volunteer service activities.Their understanding and mastery of volunteer spirit will have an impact on their enthusiasm for participating in volunteer service,which is conducive to the development of volunteer service in our country.Therefore,under the background of the new era,actively cultivating college students’ volunteer spirit is a great driving force for the development of youth volunteer service in China,and it also injects a steady stream of vitality into realizing the Chinese dream.This paper mainly includes four chapters:The first chapter expounds the concept from three aspects: volunteer service,volunteer spirit and college students’ volunteer spirit.Volunteerism comes from Marxist world outlook and methodology,the excellent moral tradition of the Chinese nation,the exposition of the Communist Party of China(CPC)’s previous national congresses and the voluntary thought of western culture.The positive influence and significance of the cultivation of volunteerism on contemporary college students mainly include helping to cultivate good young people in the new era,enriching the content of ideological and political education in colleges and universities,and encouraging the development of college students’ volunteer service.The second chapter,using questionnaires,investigates some college students’ volunteer spirit in Hubei province,and the respondents choose different genders,different grades,whether they are student cadres,etc.According to the survey results,the author investigates and analyzes contemporary college students’ understanding of volunteer spirit from multiple dimensions,and analyzes the similarities and differences between contemporary college students and former college students from the perspectives of characteristics of the times and personal personality,discusses the development and inheritance of volunteer spirit,analyzes contemporary college students’ understanding of volunteer spirit and the problems arising from this change,so as to put forward targeted opinions and suggestions.The third chapter,in view of the problems found,puts forward the cultivation ways from the aspects of individuals,universities,families and society.We should build up college students’ subjective consciousness from the aspects of promoting the theoretical cognition of volunteer spirit,enhancing the initiative consciousness of spiritual practice and realizing the unity of knowledge and practice of volunteer spirit,and builds the power engine of higher education from the aspects of strengthening the ideological and political cultivation of volunteer spirit,creating the campus atmosphere of volunteer spirit and forming the long-term mechanism of volunteer service,and ties the common ties of social families from the aspects of cultivating volunteer spirit by social organizations,conserving volunteer spirit by family atmosphere and forming a joint force of social families,and lay a solid foundation for the service system from the aspects of perfecting the guarantee system of volunteer service,optimizing the organizational structure of volunteer service and perfecting the incentive mechanism of volunteer service.The fourth chapter summarizes the proposition "Research on the present situation and cultivation ways of college students’ volunteer spirit-taking some colleges and universities in Hubei Province as examples".
