Turning To A Process Perspective: A Study Of Professional Social Workers’ Professional Relationship Creation In The Community Under The Project Model

Currently,the development of social work professional relationships in China is facing the dilemma of the destruction of the singularity of professional relationships,the ethical dilemma caused by dual relationships or even multiple relationships,and the lack of professional authority and professional autonomy.In this regard,academics believe that the current situation of social work professional relationships in China can be improved by enhancing social awareness of the social work profession,promoting a benign shift in the relationship between government and society,and reducing the negative impact of the program purchase model on professional organizations.However,the limitations of the existing research perspectives are twofold: first,these studies are often based on traditional theoretical systems defined in the West,and the professional relationship in a narrow sense is not applicable to the complex field of community work and does not match well with the actual social situation in China;second,most of these studies use a static and structured research perspective and methodology that is result-oriented,which makes the existing research results less practical in the field of social work practice and does not explore the specific mechanisms of professional relationship construction in the field of practice deeply enough.In this paper,while using a dynamic process theory perspective,the concept of social work professional relationship is extended,using the concept of "professional relationship" in a broad sense to extend the scope of the construction of professional relationship to its interaction with multiple subjects such as traditional community management subjects,purchasers of professional services,service recipients and remaining resident groups.The process of professional relationship Taking Community H in a district of Chongqing as an example,the process theory perspective is used to study the history and current situation of the construction of the professional relationship of the resident social workers in this community,and it is found that in the community service field,the social work organization uses the community as an intermediary to gain rationalized perceptions when preparing to enter the community,uses the resident activists as a bridge to establish the foundation of the professional relationship at the beginning of the community,and uses the actual needs of the residents as a handle to construct the professional relationship during the project.During the project period,the social work organization uses the residents’ actual needs as the handle to build the professional relationship,and strengthens the professional relationship with the help of community resources such as community leaders during the project period.Through this series of step-by-step and linked professional relationship building strategies,social work agencies have achieved the integration in the community and the smooth promotion of their service projects,and the effectiveness of their professional relationship building has been presented at the agency,resident,and community levels.Through the study,the author concluded that the construction of professional relationship is very important for the development and construction of social work field,the process theory perspective has an important role in promoting the good construction of local professional relationship in social work and related research,and this perspective has practical guidance for the construction of professional relationship in practice field.It was also discussed that professional social work organizations should improve the construction of local professional relationships and related research mechanisms in four aspects: deeper exploration of community residents’ needs,local cultivation of community talent resources,strengthening the relevant construction of the organizations themselves,and refining the construction strategies of local professional relationships from the perspective of the relationship between the government and the community.
