With the development of urbanization,young and middle-aged labor force choose to leave the rural areas to go to the city,and the number of rural empty nesters increases.At present,the material life of rural empty nesters is basically guaranteed,and their psychological health needs to be widely concerned.The issue of loneliness is more prominent,which has a negative impact on rural empty nesters.Therefore,it is urgent to conduct research on the alleviation of loneliness among rural empty nesters.This article adopts a mixed research method to study the loneliness of empty nest elderly in D village and the path and effect of group work intervention in alleviating loneliness.Conduct preliminary research through questionnaire surveys and interviews to understand the current situation and causes of loneliness among empty nest ers in D Village.The research results show that the average score of loneliness among empty nesters in D village is 40.94,which is between general loneliness and severe loneliness.Overall,the level of loneliness is relatively high;At the same time,there are differences in loneliness among empty nesters in D village under different factors.The older the age,the lower the education level,the widowed and divorced,the worse the physical condition,the lower the frequency of children returning home,the lower the frequency of communication with children,the lower the frequency of interaction with neighbors and friends,and the empty nesters who do not participate in collective activities have a stronger sense of loneliness.Further interviews revealed that the main manifestations of loneliness among empty nesters in D village include negative emotions,physiological problems such as sleep and diet,frequent solitude,self talk,monotonous and monotonous life,and limited community participation;The main reasons for loneliness are the weakening of self-worth caused by aging,the lack of emotional support from spouses,children,and neighbors,and the lack of community collective activities.On the basis of preliminary research,social workers analyze needs,determine goals,and under the guidance of social support theory,design and carry out eight small group activities for team members around four aspects: enhancing self-worth,narrowing the distance with children,expanding social interaction,and enriching community collective activities.They are committed to correctly understanding loneliness,enhancing self-worth,building a social support network for team members,and expanding community participation,play the role of peer groups in alleviating loneliness among team members.Finally,through evaluation,it was found that the post test data of group members’ sense of loneliness showed a significant downward trend,with significant differences before and after intervention.The degree of loneliness had changed,and overall,group work intervention alleviated group members’ sense of loneliness to a certain extent,achieving the expected goals of group activities.Therefore,based on the micro practical experience and findings of this article,practical suggestions for group work intervention in alleviating loneliness among rural empty nesters are proposed.At the individual level,it is necessary to change one’s own concepts and cultivate a sense of self-reliance.At the family level,it is necessary to build a family communication network and provide emotional support.At the community level,it is necessary to link service resources,develop mutual assistance and elderly care,and ultimately achieve the joint participation of multiple subjects to form a long-term mechanism for alleviating loneliness.
