| With the rapid development of new media technology and the popularity of mobile terminals, various short video apps have emerged.Compared with long videos, short videos have the characteristics of "short, flat and fast",which are more in line with the reading habits of the public, and are therefore paid attention to and favored by many users. While short videos are developing rapidly, more and more rural women groups are flocking to the short video platform, and the short video platform represented by Tik Tok provides a space for rural women to show and express themselves. This paper adopts the case study method and content analysis method, selects the videos of rural women in Tik Tok as the research sample, analyzes the image characteristics of rural women in the short video platform by combining the self-presentation theory, explores the motivation behind their image presentation, further analyzes the existing problems in the media image presentation of rural women in short video, and proposes feasible optimization paths on this basis. The study shows that rural women post short videos on a variety of topics, including daily records, talent shows, short drama segments and other categories.Through these short videos, rural women are able to show their diverse media images, such as hard-working and capable, virtuous and family-oriented,funny and brainy, confident and generous,multi-talented,and eager to show and pursue love. While this kind of presentation positively conveys the positive value of rural women, there are also phenomena such as self-alienation and collective unconscious objectification of rural women, which to a certain extent causes the stigmatization of group image and deepening of stereotypes. To change this phenomenon, firstly,we should encourage and support video accounts presenting positive images of rural women;secondly,we call on rural women to strengthen their subject awareness and improve their media literacy;and finally,we need the joint efforts of multiple parties to do a good job of monitoring and gate-keeping to reduce the spread of bad images. |
