| As a special social group,the disabled have always been the focus of services for people’s livelihood in China.The Government of the People’s Republic of China at all levels encourage and support social forces to set up rehabilitation institutions for the disabled.Children with mild intellectual disability living in rehabilitation institutions are bound to interact with peers and teachers and establish good relationships with others.The peer interaction ability formed in the interaction between children and peers plays an important role: it not only contributes to individual’s socialization development,but also helps children to gain a sense of belonging,to relate more to others,and to improve their people skills.However,from the reality,children with mild intellectual disability have insufficient peer interaction ability and various forms of expression.From the academic research,social work in our country has little involvement in the practice of peer interaction ability of children with mild intellectual disability,and lacks effective and feasible intervention strategies.Based on the theory of superiority perspective and CY children rehabilitation center,this paper uses group work method to intervene the peer interaction ability of children with mild intellectual disability,and seeks for feasible strategies to improve it.Through questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview,this study found that the peer interaction ability of children with mild intellectual disability was insufficient due to some adverse effects of individual,family and institution.The main manifestations are lack of social initiative and prosocial behavior,lack of expressive language,the existence of social barriers.Therefore,based on the theory of interpersonal relationship and social learning,this paper,starting from the structure of peer interaction ability and the needs of children,set up a peer interaction ability improvement group,and set up a control group to compare with the experimental group,assess the effectiveness of group activities.The process and result evaluation show that group work can effectively improve the peer interaction ability of children with mild intellectual disability.At last,the author makes a deep reflection on this research,analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the group work in this practical study,and making recommendations for the continuous and comprehensive development of peer interaction ability building projects,the appropriate expansion of the range of service objects,the integration of professional methods of social work,and the adequate and rational linkage of diverse resources,to help children with mild intellectual disability improve their peer interaction ability and promote their all-round development. |
